π₯ππ©πππͺ π¦π‘ππ£π¦ππ’π§: I wasnβt sure how well Iβd connect with a fantasy romance featuring a human with an alien love interest, but I LOVED IT!!! Itβs clear that Jennifer Armentrout is the queen of fantasy reads!
Did I expect to like this book? Yes. I mean itβs written by Jennifer Armentrout after all. But did I expect to love it as much as I did? NOPE. This book exceeded all of my expectations! Fantasy novels are still newer to me as a reader, but I think this book along with ACOTAR is the perfect place to start for all the newbies to the genre. This book leans more towards the young adult side of the romance spectrum and ACOTAR is CLOSER to adult (the first book anyway) so if you have an age preference in terms of characters you can refer to this. Aside from that, this book is truly exceptional. I loved the way the ππ‘ππ πππ¦-π§π’-ππ’π©ππ₯π¦ π§π₯π’π£π was used here (do they REALLY hate each other or is it just a facade), and how friendship played a huge role in how everything turned out in the novel. Dee is such a fantastic secondary character and I hope to see a lot more of her in the other books in the series. As for the π§ππ π₯π’π ππ‘ππ this one is definitely a slow burn even though us readers can SEE the chemistry building between Daemon and Katy. You can tell they donβt WANT to like each other but they canβt help but being drawn to one another. Honestly, βTHE FEELSβ is right on point here.
Would I recommend Obsidian? Absolutely! This book has it all: action, romance, interesting and unique characters, aliens in love with humans, galaxies far far away, and so much more! I highly recommend it to those who enjoy the fantasy genre and those who may have been hesitant to read it! Itβs worth it especially if youβre looking for a quick and satisfying read!
