Cruel North (The North Brothers #4)

I have enjoyed this series so much. These North men kept me entertained. They were demanding with rough exteriors but once they met their second half, their personalities changed for the better. They were sweet and dare say loveable. Hayes North is no exception!
From reading the previous books in the series, I felt that Hayes was the most emotionally guarded. He built up his emotional walls years ago. He had a definite reason why and I wasn’t sure if he was ever going to let his guard down. Fortunately for us readers he didn’t have choice. Haven, his daughter, showed up and wasn’t leaving until she got to know her dad.
His daughter showing up also brought his teenage love, Vanessa, back. As a teen mom, Vanessa didn’t have it easy. She had to rely on herself but was able to build a stable but caring home life for their daughter. I struggled at times with her character but she did what she had to do in order to survive.
Normally, I’m not a fan of second chance romances but I think they needed the time apart to grow. While I enjoyed their story there was some unnecessary drama at the end of the book that I didn’t think this couple needed. They were able to solve their differences and ended up with a much deserved HEA.
