4.5 stars! R’jaal’s Resonance is the first book in the new Ruby Dixon series, Ice Planet Clones, and when I saw it recently got an audiobook (on hoopla and Libby too), well I had to jump in!
This one will definitely make more sense, and you’ll have more fun with the familiar world and all the characters popping up, if you’ve read both the IPB and Ice Home series already. Especially Ice Home since we see almost all of those characters make appearances/be talked about.
In this one Rosalind wakes up in a pod realizing she’s now on the ice planet and she’s very confused and freaked out. Shortly after, she ends up trapped/being held in a cave, but she has R’jaal with her! R’jaal can’t believe his luck has finally arrived when he resonates with Rosalind, if you’ve seen his appearances in the other series then you know he’s been wanting his own resonance and mate. But Rosalind is very confused about her own life and memories, let alone trying to figure out where she is and what’s going on.
The forced proximity in this one was so fun. R’jaal is very sweet and patient with her and kind of slowly eases her into the world, she knows nothing of resonance or khui or Not Hoth. He’s desperate to get his mate help and get back to his village. I liked how she talks often about being a librarian and a fanfic writer and compares that to her current situations often! Excited for this new spinoff series and to get to the 2nd book which is out too!
