I enjoyed this book, although it took me some time to become fully invested into Gregory and his own Willow Girl. We met Gregory in the first two books by this author. I saw that this is considered a stand-alone but to be honest.. I feel you need to read; “Torn” and “Taken” to get the history of what went on between Gregory, his Brother ( Sebastian), and Helena ( Sebastian’s wife). Without having all of their history, I just can’t see how a reader would be able to fully become engaged into the story!
I did enjoy that there was a mystery thrown into the history of the house that Gregory bought for him and Amelia. It adds to the other suspense that is going on in the story. The main reason I wasn’t able to give this a five star was because I felt Gregory was not as hard as he came across in the other books. On the whole, this book wasn’t nearly as dark as the other ones, and I felt that it should have been. Gregory was such a tormented soul, and bitter... and yes... it came out a bit like that in his character... but not as much as it should have!
Obviously, it could be my own expectations of what his story should have been that made me slightly disappointed... Even in saying that though, I did enjoy the story enough to give it a four star rating!!!
