Sawyer Bennett's Off Sides has a great opening. It sucked me in and made me really excited to read the rest of the story. But, as it turned out, I (yet again) got excited for nothing. The story went from "this will be amazeballs!" to "okay, I can still deal with that" and then to "oh God, WHYYY!?" in a matter of 10 chapters. And why? Because of that damn insta-love. Ryan and Danny know each other for 10 days—TEN DAYS for God’s sake!—and in these ten days words like "deeply in love," "marry me," "my one and only," "the one" and whatnot are already floating around. I’m sorry, but that’s not normal. And their whole relationship gets even more absurd when you consider that in those ten days they didn’t see or speak to each other for five days. I mean, it takes me more time to build a trusting relationship with a new phone... Just saying...

Off Sides had the potential to be great, but it takes more than just some crappy insta-love to make me like a book.

Tropical Sorbet This is EXACTLY how I felt. It had so much potential in the beginning. That insta love was just waaaay too much. I was so bummed.

Desiree Really well said, and absolutely right!! ARRRGHH with the insta-love sh*t!! I do NOT understand why it's all the rage! I can't stand it!! So damn unrealistic. It's like a cop-out to me, "well, I don't feel like writing about WHY, so let me just SAY... 'these guys are IN love, yeah, you know what I mean, IN.LOVE.'" No, I don't know! How can they be, it's been 3 freakin' hours since they met! Jeeeze!

Bridgett This review made me laugh. I totally feel your grief. It seems to be the normal in these type of books. *shrugs*
