Scarlet and Dante’s sexual chemistry was off the charts!

I’m not sure that I enjoyed this story as much as the first, but it was still entertaining to read. The back-and-forth time jumps, and high level of angst was a little exhausting after two books.

I have never read a hero that was this steadfast, but he also played with her emotions so hard.

(view spoiler)[He made her believe he has been OW. This was because he was being blackmailed. But he never had sex with anyone other than Scarlet. Which had to break her heart, because she went out and had sex with a bunch of other men. This is the first book I’ve read where the hero remained celibate while the heroine is the one hopping beds. Tbh, these two deserve each other in the end. All of the games, the lies, the purposefully hurting each other…I understand the reasons for all of this, I just don’t like them! Dante did everything within his power, to protect the love of his life, and that was admirable.

"I'm here for the same reason I always come back to you. I've come for scraps. Anything you'll give me. I've come because I can't stay away." His voice was low and hoarse from the drink, but thick and dark with emotion. "I tried to. Don't you know that I'm always trying to stay away? It doesn't matter. It never works.

Ends with a long-awaited, and much fought for hea.
