Avery is widow who is opening a home for wayward teenagers. Before she even opens her doors, a young boy shows up in her barn. He is running away from his father who killed his mother and he witnessed the whole thing. Avery takes him in and calls the police. US marshals show up because the boy is willing to testify against his father who happens to be a major crime boss. Trent is the marshal tasked to keep Avery safe while his partner is assigned to the boy.
This story kept me turning the pages. Good book!
