Read 2 times. Last read October 24, 2021 to October 28, 2021.
Genre: Gothic Paranormal Romance
Type: Book 1 of 2 from the duology
POV: Multiple characters, shifting POV
Rating:

Farryn Ravenshaw grew up surrounded by religion and symbolisms thanks to her eccentric father. Determined to solve the mystery that had been plaguing her, she took a risk that landed her on Jericho Van Croix’s doorsteps. But her quest proved to be nearly impossible and took her deeper than she could imagine.

There’s an element in the love story of this book that I have always been weak for. I won’t say it to avoid spoilers, but it was the fundamental theme that drove this very long book. I loved the storyline and the Gothic otherworldly world presented. However, at times I found it hard to keep up with all the details. This is the kind of book that requires full concentration to enjoy.
I enjoyed the characters with their significance and how they’re connected in the stories. I also loved how far they would go for something they believed in. The earlier parts of the book were more mellow but wrapped up in heart-thumping actions towards the end.
Nightshade is a story of revenge and boundless love. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a paranormal Romance in a Gothic setting.

“A villain is quite capable of love. It’s only the matter of what he’s willing to sacrifice for that love which separates him from a good man.”

“My point is that beneath the earth lies the roots, dirt and worms, where everything decays in order to feed the beauty you find so perfect. In order for something to live, something must rot.”

Wind rushed past me as the tickle in my stomach climbed up toward my throat. I opened my mouth to scream, but all I could muster was an unintelligible screech. The rocks faded, replaced by ground that rushed toward me with a terrifying determination.

“It’s, um …my stomach, I think.”
“Your stomach,”he said in a flat voice and leaned forward. Resting his hands on the arms of the chair, he caged me in. “Your stomach, or your thighs?”His gaze dipped toward them and back to me. “They do seem to be clenching quite a bit.”

She bucked her hips forward, spreading herself open, and felt a warm wet tongue glide over her exposed slit. Lifting her head showed the baron feasting on her, licking his fingers and lips, as if he were starved for her taste.

He lifted his hand to bolts of jagged light that flickered between his fingers, caught in his palm, and directing his gaze on the men below, he could hear their shouts as they readied for a war they would never win.

Starved for oxygen, I gasped and moaned. Fingers snaked between the crack of my ass, and he pressed his thumb over the forbidden ring of muscle, tickling me with soft strokes.

Yes, there's another book. I don’t think there's a release date yet. This one is a complete book for now, but their story will continue.
