it was amazing
bookshelves: 2023-from-the-author, arcs-2023-release

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Tasha & Pierre’s points of view

– in an attempt to disguise the fact someone slept on a pullout couch (by putting it away), both characters had to make loud noises suggesting they are doing something else (the morning after their wedding) to be able to get the couch back in the right position

Review:

This was so much fun! I loved how much French we got and the close friendships/relationships both Tasha and Pierre had. I adored it when Pierre allowed himself to feel something beyond the contract and to pursue Tasha for real. I loved that Tasha had fallen for Pierre quickly and was willing to play up their relationship in the moments that required it (and even when it wasn’t required). I loved Pierre’s family so much and that his friend Rene had such a large part in their story! (Especially with Rene teasing Pierre & testing Pierre’s true feelings for Tasha.) I loved Tasha’s sister and that she got to be in on how it was a farce, but also that Tasha had real feelings for Pierre. One of my absolute favorite moments of this story was when Tasha & Pierre had to stage photos with a photographer and they found themselves getting lost in it.

Summary:

Tasha is an avid bookstagrammer, author’s assistant, and voice actor for audiobooks who has the chance to meet her all-time favorite author and some of her bookstagram friends at an author event. Tasha always expected her favorite author, Amelie De Pierre, to be a woman. But when she rushes in late to the Amelie De Pierre book signing, she finds a man by the name of Pierre signing the books instead and comes to discover that he is actually the author of her favorite books. Despite the unexpected identity of her favorite author, Tasha finds that she doesn’t mind it. In fact, Pierre is not only the picture perfect look of her image of a book boyfriend, but he’s also fun to talk to. They connect over the course of the author event and leave it amicably to return home…only to reconnect once more by way of Pierre’s agent. With Pierre’s tour extending to more author events and an unexpected hitch to it, Pierre’s agent suggests that Tasha enter into a marriage of convenience with the French author after how well their connection was caught by cameras across the resort’s patrons. In exchange for her diverting her life, Tasha would be paid handsomely for her time.

Pierre likes his privacy as a famous romance author, which was easy when he used a pen name and no one knew the true identity behind Amelie De Pierre. But that’s all about to change now that he’s agreed with his agent to use his recent jump in success to stage a book signing tour and out his identity to everyone. The only thing that manages to make Pierre relax on his first stop is a charming fan of his books. Tasha doesn’t act like he’s anyone special and he appreciates the sense of normalcy she brings him. So when she offers for him to join her and her friends on a few outings, Pierre finds himself agreeing to accompany them. Even after he returns home, Pierre find himself thinking of Tasha and how she was able to ease his discomfort. He didn’t think they’d truly cross paths once again, let alone so soon, but his agent has other ideas when an issue pops up. Now Pierre has to wait for Tasha to decide if she’s willing to pretend to be his wife on paper or not. And he isn’t sure which he hopes for her to choose…
