ʚɞ i didn't expect to enjoy this as much as i did. this couldve been a 3 stars, but alas it is not. though, i do have some things to say about this book. booktok made me buy it 🫡 although, i can't always blame booktok. but i see why a lot of people enjoy this. the banter, romance, & plot is already enough said. as this is also a debut novel, i find lauren roberts inspiring. 🫶 but more on that later!

౨ৎ plot: honestly, super easy to understand & follow along,but the similarities with 'the hunger games had me crying 😭 the trials, the government, rick & more + so much more, was the literal same. i could go on, okay? and i adore that trilogy. but at other times i forgot about it because peeta and kai do NOT remind me of each other, and that just felt weird. but based on that ending, i think reckless will take a different turn & not be like 'catching fire' yk? and there was a 'ball' scene which i L O V E D 😍 but ya, i wish it were a BIT more unique but i see some differences. but still super easy to binge and follow, keep that in mind!

➵ (also, can i just mention the amount of 'huffing' (i huffed, huffed out a laugh) or the 'smirking' (ghost of a grin, faded smile) it got so repetitive, idk i thought it was funny. LMAOO HELP)

౨ৎ overall experience: very entertaining! and the fact there were ACTUAL knife-to-throat scenes. i was not lied to. and in glad i pick this up when i did, i really needed this <3 one of the reasons why i adore fantasy book sm. anyways, if you're wondering if you should read this. you should!! im on EDGE, i need part 2 right. now. im curious to see how she'll handle that one tho 🫢 i hope im not dissapointed! 🥴

paedyn gray cmon, did her last name really have to be gray? 😭 HAH, anyways i actually enjoyed her character! yeah, she could be a bit stubborn at times, but i don't blame her tbh. she did what she had to do, yk? also - i respected her in a sense because i could not write being in a trial like that. im just too scared sm slaughter. but i understand, and smh im so sorry for her truama, i cant wait to see her in 'reckless'! RUN GIRL.

kai azer HELLO?? i swear, anytime he opened his mouth & said something i squealed!! but other time it go a little repetitive & i got annoyed 😭 there was a lot of simping tho LMAO. dw, i still liked him, but i have other book bfs 🤭 he's pretty cool tho, he has witty comebacks. i SEE the tension. and i SEE why yall love him, he does make me blush tbh. but AH im so scared for him in the next book. espc after what he said in the end omg. but just look at his quotes <3
