This one totally fit the vibe for a dreary fall day. And, I can't give away too much about the plot bc so much is spoilery. But lemme do my best with a review here...
The eerie, dark tone was spot on! The concept of Nightshade itself—where souls end up when they don’t believe in anything—was incredibly creative, adding layers of intrigue to the world with the demons, angels, and hybrid supernatural beings seemingly all at odds with each other and heightening the tension and mystery.
Although there were moments when I felt a bit confused or certain things didn’t quite add up, I suspect it might have been due to the slower pacing, which may have tested my attention span at times. Still, the darkness of the world was mesmerizing, and I loved experiencing its spooky, haunting vibes.
Speaking of the pacing - I definitely had issues here. The beginning was a slow start and it took a while for much of the story to start to unfold, but once it did - then it was off to the races for real. Towards the ending I really felt that many things were getting thrown at me 'last minute' style- I also didn't particularly love the ending. But it's a trope I'm not a fan of, I'm sure plenty of people will be okay with it.
The romance is a major slow burn. I appreciated that much more than the insta-love/lust that I normally get when I dip into dark romance.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a gothic and/or paranormal romance with spice and mystery, especially if you’re looking to get in the mood for the spooky season.

“I will look for you in the Nightshade. However long it takes, I will find you and bring you home. Remember me.”
“I’m far more selfish. I would burn down an entire city for one woman.”
“I was there. I remembered everything. Her. Us.” He held me tight, stroking his hand down my hair, and whispered in my ear. “Now you know why I can never let you leave.”
