I found the hero Cal a little too harsh for my tastes. He represented what I don't like about pro sports players and that whole macho vibe that they can give off. It was wrong what Jane did to him, however he was in the habit of using women, so in some ways it was his karma coming back on him, in my opinion. My issue is that didn't treat her very well after the fact. I can understand him being angry but I feel he should have treated the woman who was pregnant with his child better than he did. That bothered me.

Dina This is one of the five SEP books I have on my TBR. The nerd heroine made me buy it in the first place, but I was a bit turned off when I heard what she did to the hero and how he reacted, so I've never gotten around to read it.

Danielle The Book Huntress That's the difficult part of reading this book. Her deception and they way she goes about getting pregnant, and the way he treats her. It was not good, IMHO. But they made peace. It's good but read it when you're ready.

Tammy Great review Danielle. I still smile when I remember the "cereal killer" scene in this one! =)

MelissaB I haven't liked any of SEP's heroes yet. I think Bobby Tom and Gabe are pretty big jerks but Cal is up there too.

I had to skip the first part of the book because what Jane did was too bad for me to forgive.

Tammy If you didn't like what Jane did, then you probably shouldn't read SEP's This Heart of Mine either. Very similar.

I like SEP's sense of humor and the dialogue that she writes, so I plow through until the hero or heroine redeems themself. And they always end up redeeming themselves in a BIG way. But I am starting to notice a common theme - SEP will re-write the same story/plot over and over again until she gets it right!

Holly I didn't enjoy It Had To be You so much. The first half of the book drove me nuts but I started to warm up to the second half. In Heaven, Texas, Bobby Tom said the meanest thing I think I've ever read a hero saying to his heroine though his frantic and emotional groveling scene kinda made up for it.

But I loved this book to bits. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Tammy I liked the 2nd half of IHTBY also. Kevin and Molly were lots fun once they clicked! 'Specially that harem girl scene. =)

What did Bobby Tom say in Heaven, TX? It's been a loooooonng time ...

Holly Ooooo, 'a harem girl scene?!?' Don't tease me about Kevin and Molly. I haven't read it yet!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Turn away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was after he publicly proposed to her and she publicly rejected him. I don't blame her, he was being a cocky little SOB. I forget exactly what he said, something like, "I was only proposing to be nice. Why do you think I would even want to marry you? Get away from me and don't ever come near me again."

This was shouted into a microphone while they were at a party.

Tammy Oops! Got my books confused. Kevin and Molly are in This Heart of Mine. (Still has the funny harem girl scene tho!) The best part about IHTBY was the opening paragraph when Phoebe is at the funeral with her poodle and Hungarian lover. =)

I sort of remember the scene you are talking about with Bobby Tom. I didn't care too much for him, but I liked Gracie's spunkiness.

Holly I thought the best part was when he was beating up her cousin.

I didn't like Bobby Tom either, Melissa. Glad I'm not alone.

Thanks, Tammy.

I like the same things about SEP but I think her heroes are pretty jerky or too arrogant (with a few exceptions). To be honest, I did not like Cal. Jane wasn't that likable either, but I didn't like how callous he was in treating her. She's a pregnant woman, for goodness sake.

Trulie I could pretty much say ditto to your review. Her heroes don't do anything for me, but I like her writing itself.

Danielle The Book Huntress Same here, Trulie. I find her heroes are not my favorite, but she's a really good writer.
