Truman Capote was a gay man, correct? Is that why he liked writing about stupid women who were prostitutes? Is this what he envisions when he thinks of women?
This short story was included in the copy of Breakfast at Tiffany's that I bought, so I decided to see what it was about. And yes, it was about a stupid woman who was a whore.
There are two more Capote stories included in my book. Hopefully we will get a theme change with the next two. Got anything about a smart woman Truman, one who doesn't sell her body for money?
Just asking.

Thank youu! Maybe I'll let you know what I think of them.. I've actually enjoyed "House of Flowers" more than "Breakfast at Tiffany's"...
So...I've finished the other two stories as well. I really enjoyed "A Christmas Memory", it was touching and I actually wanted it to be longer. As for "A Diamond Guitar", it was 'meh' for me, too.. it felt like it was there just to fill up some more pages.
All in all, I like Truman Capote's writing style, but for now, these four stories were enough for me for some time.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear you liked A Christmas Memory as well.
These stories were enough Capote for me for awhile too!

No, not yet. I have a copy of "In Cold Blood" on my shelf, but my husband read it and is scared him, so I'm not sure I want to read it! LOL
Have you read Cold blod yet, Sheila?
If so, I’m curious to hear if you liked it. I have a friend who reads it once a year, but I’m afraid it might be a bit too violent/scary for me.

Totally agree. Helpful review. Breakfast At Tiffany's & House Of Flowers are the first two Capote stories I've read, and in both of them he portrays women in such a dismal way. In reality it's the men who used & abused them who should have been portrayed appallingly. Not the kind of novels I'd normally choose to read, and not what is expected. But it's helpful to try and read them from a thoughtful, critical perspective.
