This is not a book I would recommend. This is also not the first time I tried to read this book. But this time I tried the print edition and also the audio. I just could not concentrate on it. I did manage to complete the book since it is for my in-person book club and I did not want to sound like an idiot reviewing it with them, but it was not easy. I think the book has potential - the story's premise is good, and I loved Remedio and how he was incorporated into the story. A story built on the great grandfather of the author, so definitely it has meaning for her. However this was just not a book for me.

Elizabeth☮ Interesting. I really liked this one. I live in Texas, so I could visualize many of the areas described.

♥ Sandi ❣	I lived in Texas twice when I was in school - San Antonio and Corpus Christie - and also travel a few times to the Dallas Fort Worth area for work. So I don't really know Texas, but have spent a good deal of time in parts there. It was not the setting that I didn't like in this book, I guess it was the overall story. This is a first read of this author and maybe it is her writing style - I am not sure. However I struggled to get thru the novel and it was not holding my attention very well. Happy you liked it tho Elizabeth. As we know not all books are for all people and this one is just not for me.

Victoria Guariguata Im surprised people living in Texas felt they could visualize the setting. I was quite confused on his travels and route as it felt somewhat improble to cover that much terrain while avoiding places that would be impossible to pass through due to goegraphical boundaries of the time. As a Texan this detail really bothered me while reading.
