This author has very quickly become a 1-click author for me. Eva is a very descriptive writer without being too much and every scene plays like a movie in my head.
I've already been introduced to Violet and Saint and when I found out they were being introduced to the world, I couldn't have been more excited!
If you're already a fan of Eva's you know this is darker than what she has written previously. If you're new to her work and love a DARK romance, you are going to love Saint and Violet.
I feel like Violet is a kindred spirit. I can relate to what interests her, even if it's not normal to most.
Saint and Violet meet seemingly by chance, while her and her boyfriend are headed to a party. Little does she know that things are not what they seem!
Once he's got her right where he wants her, there is no going back for either one of them! I think my moral compass is well and truly broken, because where can I get a Saint in my life!
I love that Violet is studying criminal behaviour/psychology and that her mind is constantly trying to understand what makes a psychopath tick. It's interesting and I find myself becoming fascinated right along with her. What is it that makes someone that way? How is their brain wired? What are they missing?
In Violet's mind she can't comprehend the fact that she craves what Saint can give her.
Which brings me to the man in question. Saint is straight up red flag material, forget morally grey, he is the darkest shade of black you can get, and like all of you out there, I'm totally here for it.
I did pick out who Saint was not long before Violet did and once she did, she started seeing what was right in front of her. The temperature kicked up 100 degrees the minute she started antagonising Saint to get him to come out to play. Holy moly, you could cut the tension between them with a knife. I thought the scene in the woods was hot, but their first encounter together, knowing who he was, is on a whole other level!
Now Violet knows who Saint is, there is no turning back. She's at war with herself, knowing that what he has done is indeed wrong, but Saint awakens something within her and gives her what she needs. I found their dynamic extremely fascinating. Violet is intrigued by Saint, she craves to understand how his mind works and I just loved her dialogue trying to figure it out. Watching him switch from one persona to another, was written so incredibly well, I really felt like I could see it!
He was so matter-of-fact about everything he did, then Violet would say something that his brain couldn't quite comprehend. I loved 'watching' him trying to understand this as well. That twist had me! My jaw almost hit the floor when that final revelation hit and everything tied in together. That was incredibly well done!
I do not even know how to describe their spicy scenes. No word feels right for the explosiveness that comes off the page when they're together!
This whole book has left me in a state of, I don't know what! I don't know how to move on from this! One of, if not the best read, of 2024. Honestly, just wow!
Eva weaves a tale of suspense and intrigue that grips you like a vice, right to the very last page! There was one line Saint said toward the end

“I don’t know how to love you right,” He says, brushing his fingers along my jawline and tracing it the same way he traced my scars. “But I love you every way I know how. Because you are everything to me. I’d d!3 for you.”

Stick a fork in me because I'm done.

Saint managed to sum up his whole character development in that one sentence. I bow down to you Eva, this was brilliant!

Violet, my soul sister, is a strong character who doesn't shy away from the dark and depraved, instead she leans in and says "more please" she really held her own against Saint and I loved that she always caught herself justifying his actions.

Though I think Saint has well and truly carved a piece of himself into my soul, Bring on the next in the series!
