More Grace & Jack = WIN!

Redhead Revealed begins right where Unidentified Redhead leaves off, with Grace in NYC starting her musical and with Jack still in LA. They are doing the long distance thing, trying to make it work, but also missing each other terribly.
”I just miss you. I miss being in your bed,” he said quietly, and I could hear the desperation in his voice. I felt it too. It was not just the physical love he gave me, but the simple touches we took for granted when we saw each other all the time. I missed him washing my hair almost as much as the intense orgasms he had granted me daily.

Time apart is difficult enough, but Jack and Grace are supposed to be keeping their relationship under wraps. It’s in the best interest of Jack’s career and to keep Grace from being bombarded by paparazzi and angry fangirls during this crazy time.
“Listen up, Nuts Girl. When I say, ‘I don’t have a girlfriend,’ what I want you to hear in that tiny little head of yours is, ‘I love you, Grace,’” he instructed on the phone late one night. “When you hear me say, ‘No, I’m not seeing anyone right now,’ what you need to hear is, ‘Yes, yes, I am, and she has the best tits in the free world.’ Can you do that, please?”
“Yes, sir. I’ll listen for your secret messages. Jeez, this is so cloak and dagger. You’d think you were a spy or something.” I laughed.

When a few visits, copious amounts of phone sex, and reassurances from Jack stop being enough, Grace loses it a bit.
This whirlwind romance with Jack had brought up every insecurity I’d ever had. Sure, we were great when it was just us, but when you put it in the context of real life?

They ultimately have to figure out if they can make it work in the crazy life they have both chosen. Is it all worth fighting for?(view spoiler)

This book definitely had more conflict and angst than the last, which is to be expected considering the conditions these two are working with. Although there was drama and some bad decisions made, I loved Jack and Grace through it all. Even when I was mad at one of them (view spoiler), there were then moments I was insanely proud too. (view spoiler) There is still the humor we know of Alice Clayton, but it is definitely more dialed back in this one. And even with the distance and separation, there is still plenty of steam in this book. It’s what I’ve come to expect from these two - that dynamite chemistry and sexual tension.

Overall, I loved it. I cannot wait until the next book in the series to get more of this crazy duo. (Even though the description for the next totally makes me nervous, but it might be about time Jack shows he has one flaw! Lol)

We were silly, we were unique, we were thankfully not normal, and we were perfectly matched.

“Why the hell do you love me so much? Seriously, I am fucked up and nuts,” I said into his chest, still wet from the bath. I could feel him chuckling.
“You think I don’t know you’re nuts? I’ve known that all along. Don’t fool yourself. And like I’ve been telling you, I like nuts girls,” he said, kissing the top of my head.

AJ Great review Brenna! And spoiler free!! YAY! ;) And you must be wrong about Jack having a flaw... it's just not possible! *dreamy sigh*

Brenna Thanks chicky! Maybe it's his turn for a bit of stupid, eh? I dunno, he might even be entitled to it for being such a saint lol I love him. He keeps it interesting even when he's being a good guy :)

AJ Well, I'm still excited! And looking forward to our BR in December!!! ;)

Brenna Me too, of course. And we DEFINITELY need to BR it. Done deal!

Brenna Thanks ladies! ♥

Nila Terrific review. I loved these books. Their first meeting at the party still stays in my mind as just perfect. ... Maybe Jack is too perfect? Could that be his flaw?

This series is so special. I just love them together! I think why I love the first one even more is because of that initial banter (like their first meeting). He is pretty perfect, but he's not that annoying too perfect... KWIM? From the sounds of the next one, he might be seeing Jack mess up and show some flaws. Makes me nervous, but it's probably needed!

I agree about Jack. I remember tensing up at times, afraid he'd say or do the usual dumb-ass thing, and he doesn't. They are such a pleasure, too, not just the sex but the affection. ... I thought this was the final book? (It's been such a long wait that I stopped checking in on it.)

Brenna Yeah and since this one isn't a cliffhanger at all I can totally understand why you wouldn't expect a 3rd.

Got to watch my pronouns. I knew about Book 3, but it's been a looong time coming. The characters are so good that another book is a treat. Did you try the audiobooks for 1 & 2?

Brenna No, I wanted to but they were so expensive! I had already gotten the kindle book and those were on whispersync but it was like $12 to add, barely any savings.. :/ I'd love to pick them up when they are on sale though, do you have them?

message 12: by Nila (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nila I thought I did, but no. They're on the wish list. I have lots of credits though since I always buy extra. Can't decide whether to get Olivia Cunnings books or finish up my Vampire Academy. ... How's The Tied Man?

Brenna I get a monthly credit, but I mostly buy the cheap whispersync books!

It's really good, I'm loving it and I'm DESPERATE to read more but I've been super busy! I'm student teaching - finishing up my education degree so my schedule is nuts, plus I'm still working weekends too. It's going to be a long 4 months for me :(

message 14: by Nila (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nila Big congratulations! Are you going for an elementary credential? Do you graduate in 4 months? I can't imagine how you can read at all with your schedule, and I see you on GR often. (Of course, I stay up later than most and it seems like you do to.) I didn't know GR existed a year or so ago, and that seems amazing to me now.

I've always loved being read to and go way back to Books-on-Tape. I still have a lot of them and have to buy cassette players on eBay. Anyway, seems like I only buy books these days, so I let myself go a little crazy at Audible.

Brenna Aww thanks! Yeah, I'll be elementary and special ed dual certified. I graduate in December! FINALLY! This time last week I was basically nocturnal, going to bed at like 6am and now I have to be UP at 6am. I'm still a night owl though. If I get to bed before 1am that seems early. I'm sure it'll catch up to me though. I can't stay away from GR.. I'm supposed to be lesson planning but I keep trolling around on here!

I hear ya! I love audible. I'm listening to The Mighty Storm right now. I read it about a year ago when I first got into reading and I'm doing a re-read (listen) before the next comes out later this month. I loved it when I read it the first time and I still do cuz I remember how I felt reading it. I'm pickier now though lol

I personally prefer it more for re-reads. I find myself not liking the character if I don't like the narrator and I'm nervous about that happening.

message 16: by Nila (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nila The Mighty Storm killed me! And not in a good way. I'd give a lot if one of the good writers had written it. I loved it, and yet it was a DNF for me. I did read the final pages, though. And I have the Audible but haven't listened. ... For sure I'll get the sequel and hope her publishers got her a good editor. (I hate to be so tough on the author but it just broke my heart that I couldn't love Jake enough to finish his story.)

Brenna Oh the editing was bad? Really? I don't even remember, it's been a whole year. But it's probably better since it's been rereleased. I think this book is an easy one to just go with... Angst, unnecessary drama, and whining bother me to no end lately and I've noticed it here already. But I'm enjoying it and ultimately thats what I want :) The narrator isn't great IMO, but I've gotten used to it.

message 18: by Nila (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nila Absolutely, the story is what matters and Jake was my man. Maybe if I hadn't wanted the whole book to be great it wouldn't have bothered me so much. It's probably the biggest reading disappointment I've had, and I was such a crab. I'm sure I didn't review it because no way was I going to be objective. Tru was a journalism major and she almost never spoke a grammatically correct sentence!

Brenna LOL! That's too funny! I still love it, but it's almost a nostalgic feeling for me with that one. I often wonder how my feelings would change about favorite from a year ago. 150 books later makes a HUGE difference!

Not sure how many books I've done since I got my Ipad and made the rapid descent into one-click heaven. I know I have over 500 titles. ... Lately, I've gotten so fed up with guys with dark pasts and girls with secrets that I've been reading m-m. I never thought I'd go there, but JR Ward's "Lover at Last" was such a wonderful love story. I have to say, I like the change of emphasis from all the angst and silly games and stupid misunderstandings. The m-m stories are so new to me but they seem more realistic and tell such different stories than in m-f romances. (To tell the truth, though, I was awfully confused about just what position these guys were in when I first started.) ... So I can add that they are also educational. And the sex is often really hot.

Brenna I'm in the same boat about being tired of the same old drama and tragic pasts. I switch it up with YA and paranormal. I'm honestly open to anything. I do like a hint of romance or love interest, but it doesn't need to be prevalent to have my attention. I haven't tried much m/m - I read Cut & Run a couple months ago, but I didn't love it. Not because of them both being men, I just didn't love the writing and dialogue. But I hear they get better so I'll try again. I need to read BDB too! It's on my never ending list!

message 22: by Nila (last edited Aug 12, 2013 10:14AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nila If you want a good BDB go with Zhadist. He's book #3, and he's got a heart-breaking story. Loved book 2, too.
I agree about Cut & Run, but I did find the sex scenes were excellent. Lots of tension in that story, but the plot wasn't much.
I found people on GR who read a lot of m-m and seemed to have my tastes and got recommendations. There are lists on GR too. Lots of readers love Strawberries for Desert and Fear, Hope and Bread Pudding. Cole is a sweet character, and in the second book they are looking to adopt. Just so touching. Saving Zach is a great story with an opening chapter that was almost too horrible for me to read, but a great story of love and survival. ...

All my favorites have love stories and all the ones I mentioned have HEAs.

Brenna I'm planning on reading BDB for sure. I'll probably just read them in order though. I liked the guys in C&R, so I'll try the 2nd one for sure at some point :) another buddy read since thats what I did with the first one. I'll check out those rec's. Thanks! :)

message 24: by Ash Wednesday (new)

Ash Wednesday I'm re-reading BDB... sometime in my imagination :)

Brenna Wait for me!!!

message 26: by Ash Wednesday (new)

Ash Wednesday We shall! But I'm ditching you in Butch's and Phury's books. Nobody who has read that series wants to suffer them again. Especially Phury's o.O

Brenna Hahaha! Ok, deal. Neither one of those is the first right?

message 28: by Ash Wednesday (last edited Aug 12, 2013 10:51AM) (new)

Ash Wednesday Nope :p 4 & 6 I think.

Brenna Then we're good! But I hold you to buddy reading #1 with me.
