it was amazing
bookshelves: baseball-romance, sports-romance, stfuattdlagg

New book boyfriend unlocked. Remington Tate everyone. This man I literal perfection. And that is how I am going to convince you too read this book but first...

Can we please talk about how this is a debut novel... like Taylor, you knew what you were doing with this one and it was a smash! I loved everything about this book from the plot, to our cinnamon roll MMC and even the side characters! These two were so unproblematic, there was no third act break up and our MMC was perfect. The only thing that I would have added would be a little drama between Roman and Remi but other than that, it was amazing!

Ok let's get into the nitty gritty. Sideline Play follows Remington Tate, who is the catcher for the Nighthawks, and Scarlet Jones, who is the daughter for the Nighthawks coach and athletic trainer in training for the team. When Remington get hurt, it's Scarlet who is in charge of his rehab. And Remi sees this as his opportunity to make her his! From the start this man has no problem going after Scarlet. He leans into his feelings and he won't let anything get in his way, not even her brother.

Remington is by far the perfect book boyfriend. He is emotionally available, talks openly about his feelings, does not play games and he provides a safe space for Scarlet to be vulnerable. So my question is, where can we find a Remi in real life? Asking for a friend... Now Scarlet, she grew up around baseball. Her father is a baseball player turned coach and she lives, eats and breathes the game. But being a woman means she needs to overcome some adversity and she is determined to make a name for herself. She herself is a pretty strong FMC. She does have some trauma that she experienced in her past that she works through throughout this book and Remington held her hand through the whole process creating a safe environment.

Now let's touch on the spice. This one is spicy. Our girl experienced some assault and trauma in her past. And a way to help her work through that is by reading smut. By doing this she realized there are some kinks she wants to explore. And who is there to help her explore? Our boy Remington. He not only read her books but also helped her explore these kinks. Two kinks that play a big roll in this book includes breeding and daddy kink. So enjoy!

Lastly, I want to talk about the side characters in this book. I absolutely ADORED Scarlet's dad! He is literally the BEST dad ever! They have a truly amazing relationship. And I love seeing healthy parental relationships in books and this is definitely one of those! He dad just was seriously so sweet. I also loved Scarlet's brother Roman. He is overprotective and will do anything for her. Which makes me excited for his book! But can we also talk about Roman's best friend Reeves... this man is also amazing. He provided some amazing comedic relief. And I ask the question, is Reeves getting his own book because it's a NEED not a want.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 but rounded up to 5⭐️
