Wedding Bet (Fixer Brothers Construction Co #8)

Confused about what it wants to be, characters feel flat, “fake boyfriend” trope is suggested but comes up maybe twice in the whole book. The bulk of the story taking place at a wedding where our MCs emphatically do not fall in love.
Weird tones around money and situations that just don’t make sense, Jamie is barely scraping by renting his own place but his mother has her own house and needs to be taken care of. A lavish wedding where the groom’s brother is scantly involved except to deliver flowers, and has to squeeze in a seat at the back? And does not give a wedding toast? Maybe not the point of the story but it creates weird gaps in the world and characters.
Overall a very muddled read, poorly defined characters, barely used plot devices, and inconsistent pacing. I have not read the author’s other work, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll pick the series up from the beginning.
