it was ok

I read book 2 first and loved it, so I thought I'd love this one too, but it wasn't nearly as good. It started out great and it was an interesting perspective to know Kole was Saint from the beginning, but after that, it just was not very good. For one thing, there was no real romance and I didn't see any real chemistry between the two once she learned Kole was Saint. Also, how are you going to tease a chase/hunt/fuck scene and then have it end with a forced blowjob? Laaaaaame! It felt like it was done specifically because the author didn't want them to have sex too early in the book, which I understand, but it made zero sense that after waiting for a year to have sex and obsessing with her, he just wanted a BJ after all that because "she wasn't ready". Also, the dialogue felt way too 'Edge Lord'. When Violet asks saint why her he says, "Because you're beautiful when you break". What? WTF does that even mean? I'm sure it's supposed to seem enigmatic and poetic, but practically, it just sounds dumb. Overall, I just found myself bored and not very interested, the sex scenes weren't my cup of tea in this but at least they were plentiful. The climax of the story was very underwhelming and there was barely a plot. I'm still trying to wrap my head around why this revered senator councilman sent one underclassmen to take on two experienced upperclassmen and a girl by himself. I'm glad I read the second one first because I really enjoyed it and if I'd read this one first, I would have just skipped the series altogether.
