Enjoy Your Stay (Sugartown, #2)

We've been welcomed to Sugartown and now we get to put up our feet and rest a while as the story of the hell-cat that is Holly & Jackson, the man with more sex appeal than should legal get a chance to tell you their story.

Holly's just nineteen and knocked up. After watching Coop drive off to chase his dream, leaving her behind with a baby he has no idea exists, she finds herself living in the same house as Jackson, Ana's cousin and a man that sets her pregnancy hormones on fire. Jackson has come to Sugartown after his mother dies and he is starting fresh. He has had a thing for the young Holly for years, they've always shared great moments between the sheets and the kind of bickering that leads to heat rather than hurt feelings. But she's knocked up. She's going to be a mom and after a while, it's not the thought that she's having a baby that scares him... it's the though that it is not his that does.

This was such a different story than I expected it to be. I was so surprised with Welcome to Sugartown that I really should have expected this story to take me by surprise. I knew we wouldn't get a story without the return of the rock-star-baby-daddy and the indecision between choosing what your heart wants and what your head screams you should settle for. I didn't expect to go through the range of emotions as these two fought their feelings throughout the entire wild ride. I also didn't expect the emotional flare ups of the rest of the cast and their story being told.
Jackson was a character that I loved and wanted to hate, really tried to hate him (really I did), but I just couldn't do it. He had these brilliant moments when you thought that he finally got it, that he was going to do the right thing and for once not be a complete ass, but then he'd open his mouth and ruin it for a bit. I loved the angst of these two, both fighting what they felt, but never making you think that the reality of their connection wasn't about to come crashing down on them at any second.
Carmen Jenner has created a wonderful little town, filled with women who have smart mouths and delicious pies and men who just have to wink at you, causing you to throw caution and your panties to the wind. But she laces such a great mix of humor into her stories that have you snickering while reading. I absolutely lost it when this line came into play...
"I thought you'd gone into labour, and the dingos had eaten your baby."
But that was just one part of this story that I loved, beyond the humor and love story; there were moments that allowed your heart to shatter for these two. The scene in the truck with Snickers tore out my heart completely. So much was told with this scene that went beyond that scene, there was no way to avoid the pain that was held in that moment.
A fantastic follow up to the first in this series and I look forward to the next two parts of this story. Carmen Jenner has created a fan with her quick witted writing style that can have you laughing one moment at some quirky lines but is just as quick to bring you back into the moment with sincere emotions. I can't wait to read more.
