K.D. Absolutely So is coffee good or bad for us? If good, up to how many cups of black coffee everyday? Is black coffee bad?

message 2: by Leo (new) - added it

Leo Robertson That I picked up: supposedly one can experience caffeine withdrawal symptoms after only a cup of coffee a day- some say that there is no safe dosage at all and caffeine should be completely avoided, and that prolonged usage can lead to heart problems.
At the same time coffee has use as an anti-depressant, and prevents suicide in nurses with increasing effect up to 4 cups a day.
Dosage of caffeine varies greatly from cup to cup (average 100mg). The effects last about 5 hours (with peak after 2).
Nothing on black coffee, but boiled or unfiltered coffee can lead to high cholesterol.
Inconclusive! Drink to your heart's content, or lack thereof!
Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm going to have a cup right now. Cheers!

Haha! That's good enough info for me. I am not a regular coffee drinker but my doctor says my pulse/heart rate is slow and I should drink 4-6 cups of coffee everyday. I do it but only once a day and most of the time I drink green tea. Tea tastes better for me.

Leo Robertson Wow! I think I drink that anyway- only because I'm bored and Scandinavians (other fact from the book) drink twice as much as anyone else. Apparently there were 100 references to coffee-drinking in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo :)

OMG, I have to read that book! I have a copy with me since ages!!! Thanks, Leo. Nice to know that you are a Scandinavian (my first Scandinavian friend)! :)

OMG, Scotsman! That's even more awesome. I can picture you in a knight armor or drinking scotch on the rocks hahaha!

K.D. Absolutely Doing GR while in the office? What are you? The owner? Haha!

message 10: by Leo (new) - added it

Leo Robertson Shh- this is important to my wellbeing :) I see you are more concerned about GR than my scotch on the rocks!

Where in the world are you? What do you do?
(also, thanks for reading my recent sporadic micro-reviews!)

message 11: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely I am in Manila. I am an IT Mgr at daytime (no GR as I want to instill discipline in my team hahaha). At nighttime, I spend time writing reviews and reading.

I love your reviews - they are short and sweet. Keep writing!
