Maya Banks did it again! Taking It All is a BRILLANTLY written story that touched my heart and soul throughout the entire read.
This is the third installment of The Surrender series, and is Chessy and Tate’s story, which I have been dying to read since I first met them in book 1, Letting Go. I have to say that Taking It All was SO much more than I was hoping for.
This story is VERY emotional and filled with angst. My heart broke so many times for Chessy during this read. But, it also broke for Tate too, even though he made some catastrophic mistakes along the way. I was completely taken in with this story and the characters; I found it EXTREMELY hard to put the book down.
One thing I LOVED SO MUCH about this book was the fact that ALL the main characters from the two previous books played a HUGE part in this book too. I was really happy to get updates on how their relationships were going, but more importantly how they were there for Chessy when she needed them the most. It was very touching reading how they ran to Chessy in her time of need and how they were so tender and kind, never telling her what to do, but always offering their support.
If you have read any of Maya Banks books, you know that she is the QUEEN OF STEAM! Her sex/love scenes are VERY PASSIONATE, but she goes beyond that and adds the intimacy that takes place after the loving is done. Because of this, the scenes are full and completed to the end. I really wish more authors would add this step, instead of having the couple pull the covers up, and roll over when all is said and done. For me, it makes the read more realistic.
In the end, Maya Banks gave us an epilogue that was the MOST PERFECT ending to this FANTASTIC trilogy. It wrapped EVERYONE and EVERYTHING up so WONDERFULLY, that when I finished reading it, I fondled the book lovingly, sighed, and wiped the tears of joy from my eyes.
Special note: This series NEEDS to be read in order to fully understand what is taking place.
