Wounded is the beautiful story of Rania and Hunter.

Rania, an Iraqi girl, has lost everything. Her family has been killed, her home destroyed, and she has no hope of survival. There is one thing Rania has, and when she is offered food for her body the only choice she has is to sell herself or die.

Hunter joins the Marines after losing his family in a car accident. The only semi-family he had was his girlfriend and shortly after joining he loses her too. During his tour in Iraq he is wounded, and taken in by Rania.

Hunter is obviously attracted to the beautiful Rania, but above everything he wants her safe and to be taken care of. Rania doesn’t know what it is like to be wanted for anything other than her body, so when she takes in Hunter she doesn’t know what to expect.

Together in the Iraqi desert, in the middle of a war, these two have to figure out how to survive.


This story is one of the most touching books I have read. Within the first few pages my heart was breaking for the characters. I loved Hunter and Rania’s will to survive. I enjoyed seeing them learn to communicate with each other. Both of the characters are strong, self-sacrificing, and willing to do anything to protect the other.


This is a quick read and well worth your time. Wounded is an emotional read but also uplifting, definitely recommend!
