Gable (The Powers That Be, #1)

Harper Bentley has done it again! Gable might only be the second book of hers that I've read, but I can tell you right now that she's gained me as a reader for life. I just love her writing style. Ms. Bentley breaks my heart, but she also makes me laugh my butt off, she brings out all my emotions, and she captures my attention so much so that I never want to stop reading, the time just flies by, and the real world rarely intrudes on the powerful ones that she creates. I could continue, but for now I'll just tell you that absolutely loved this magnificent story!!
Scout has just started at a new college, but already she's been warned about the infamous, sexy Powers brothers. She's unimpressed however, and just wants to focus on becoming a journalist, but then she meets one of them and Gable is an cocky arrogant a*shole. She knows he's Trouble with a capital T, but that doesn't stop her from wanting him. He excites her, infuriates her, entices and confuses her. Scout doesn't know what to make of the man, but she knows that there's more to him meets the eye.
One of the things I loved the most about this book was the characters. They were funny, relatable, and definitely their own person. I loved Scout's sassiness, determination, and stubbornness. I also really adored her name! Gable's a jerk, but he's a very HOT, very likable jerk. I loved his persistence, dirty mouth, and his sweetness. My favorite thing about them was Gable and Scout's banter, it was hot and entertaining!
There are some books where I know there is going to be a HEA because I've seen that there's an epilogue (or just for whatever reason) and so when the time comes for the conflict, sometimes I'm not as affected as deeply because I know it's going to end happily. With some books, though, I can't remain unaffected and I couldn't with this one. Gable is a very fun, fast read, but it still made me heartsick, nervous, and worried. It's one of the main reasons why this book was amazing to me because it made me feel all the those emotions even though I knew I would get my happy ending.
This book is beautiful, sweet, steamy, and a little heartbreaking. It will pull out all your emotions and make your heart pound. It was extraordinary and I loved it so much that it gave me stitches!!
Gable is a told mainly from Scout's point of view and it does have a HEA ending. It is the first book in this series, it is a standalone and I positively cannot wait for the next book in this series!! ~ Paige, 5 stars
