it was amazing

I thought I had satisfied by obsession with Russia this decade, but this new study by Figes -- who wrote the marvelous cultural history Nastaha's Dance -- makes it all the more fascinating, terrible and human.

Rodger Foshee All of my life I have been coming upon books about Stalin. Each one claims to have true incites. I don't believe that we will have a true account of his life for years if ever,

william True enough, but this is about the effect of Stalin's policies on families lives, which is far more effective than the dozen great biographies that have come out in the past few years.
