Fury (New Species, #1)

RATING: 3.75 "Sexy Fury" HEARTS!
This is a guilty-pleasure read. I have seen this series countless times, but never got around to it. But, I am glad I'm finally reading it cause its all kinds of good. Fury took me by surprise. I was expecting some really bad writing, and a half-assed attempt at the plot, and even worse characters who lust after each other form moment one, and then some really horrendous smexy scenes, as is the norm in this genre. I assure you that was not the case here. Instead, this is the complete opposite. Good, entertaining writing, smooth plot, interesting characters, and some really good nice and naughty romance. So, yes, this book took me by surprise...but I could not have been more happy about it.
I just adored both the main characters, especially Ellie. This girl is badass in her own non-fighting type of way. And I liked the fact that she had a backbone, unlike so many other heroines in the Erotica genre. On the other hand, Fury is just all kinds of growly, possessive, and sexy. Its hard NOT to like him, to be honest. You'll understand the name situation if you read this. In a weird way, it makes sense. Trust me. :P And the steam between these two is just sizzling.
But more than the characters, I loved the plot. Its so different...I still can't explain it. A mix of shifters...with dystopia?? I just loved the new take on mixing humans with animals. The fact that they don't shape shift...but a part of the animal has been fused with their DNA - that's different and unique. Of course, with your everyday romance, action and thrill thrown in together, makes for one fun read!
Although, this is not perfect, in fact, I would say its downright a cheese factory, and yet, there is something oddly charming about this. I guess, the whole concept of it really pulled me in. This is one of those pass the time kind of reads, so in the end its worth the read. I enjoyed this, and am looking forward to the next installment!

How is it that they don't shape shift but have some of the animal's DNA??
What happens to them?? Now I am curious!! LOL
xoxoxo"
Thank you so much, sweetness! :D
Haha! That's exactly why I read this, to see what makes them so different. They are essentially grown in test-tubes. Experiments of a futuristic world....but its not post-apocalyptic. They still live in the modern world (no flying cars or anything like that. LOL). Its so darn hard to explain, but the plot alone is definitely worth the read! Its pretty interesting.
If you have like 2-3 free hours on hand, pick it up. I can't wait to see what you think of it, if you pick it! :D
xoxoxo
When I finally get to it, I will let you know what I think!! LOL
And kudos to you for finding a heroine you liked! That's no mean feat these days. :P
Wonderful review, Maida love! xoxox

We really do sometimes! Hahaha! It is nearly impossible! I was happy about that too. Thank you so much, my love! :D xoxoxo
Exactly! I don't ask much from heroines, just that they aren't TSTL and don't annoy the daylights out of me. LOL :P xoxoox
Haha! Don't I know it. But, I have a feeling heroines like that annoy you a lot more. My patience level has yet to run out in regards to that. LOL :P xoxoxo
LOL! No doubt about it, I'll eventually get there....hopefully not too soon though. I sometimes like the cheesy reads, when I don't wanna think too much. :P xoxoxo
Ok. Take it slow and easy! :))) xoxox
Thank you so much, Rachel! A nice and naughty romance is always fun! LOL :P
Hahaha! That's the plan...but TSTL heroines have a way of sneaking up on you. Its all up to them, now. :P xoxoxox
No jks, it really is! But, I personally think its worse when it happens from a well-liked author. That's more heartbreaking than anything. :D xoxoxo
Exactly! :( I'm always dreading loved/fav authors when they write in a new genre, especially. For example: You know how much I love Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld (the PNR series). But she is coming out with a contemporary series, and I am hoping against all odds it won't disappoint me. :s xoxoxoxo
Thank you so much, my love! :D xoxoxo
Thanks, Sammy! This series has its ups and downs, but it really is pure fun! :D xoxoxox
