I've no problem reading extreme body modification and sadomasochism (check the Brethren-series by F.B. Peaches for that, she easily tops Chris Bellows). But I have to find what I read erotic, and this here was about as erotic as a dust bunny under the bed of a cheap roadside motel somewhere between Moscow and Krasnodar.

The target audience probably is male, because it concentrated on male femdom fantasies and fetishes rather than what I, as a female sadist, would consider enticing. The writing was strangely unemotional, stilted and not geared towards creating any attachment, be it to one of the women, or to one of their victims.

The main thing it seemed to try doing was put out the extremest situations possible, from how the sperm donors are maintained to the sissification. It isn't helpful, of course, that I'm not interested in forced transsexuality. As a sadist I am interested in (male) suffering instead. Suffering I can empathise with, suffering the characters emote with, and which is erotic. And sexy.

This book stands in the same line I observed quite a few, mainly US-American, erotica to toe: extreme-as-extreme-can. Kind of a pissing contest as to who writes the most disgusting and violent content. Maybe it's a male thing. Maybe it's some sort of niche thing. Obviously there are readers who appear to value the dare.

I'm afraid I don't. I'm rather sure I'm not the target audience. I nearly fell asleep on this.

Pixie "As a sadist I am interested in (male) suffering instead"...

Mostly or only male?

Steelwhisper Mostly, that's why it is in parentheses. I like suffering, and I also play with women. They can suffer just as wonderfully and erotically as men ;)

Pixie I assumed so as I believed you mentioned you played with women before. But there are different forms of play, so I was curious as to why you specified enjoying male suffering. I’d assumed as a sadist it’s the suffering you like….regardless of whose it is.

Steelwhisper Oh yes, I regularly also play with women, and I identify as bisexual (or pansexual). But this is femdom, so I was looking at the female Top, male bottom angle here.

I think one problem is that it is written for a male (submissive) audience. Not for the female Tops. The other problem is that it is written for the bald visuals and also for extremes. At the same time there is nothing which tickles me erotically in it. What get described are turnoffs for me.

It's not just "any" kind of suffering. I'm always astonished when something like this gets filed under "general erotica", instead of "porn for men".

Pixie Well if it’s not “any kind of suffering” then what’s an example of a book that illustrates the type of suffering you like and gets it right?

Steelwhisper That's varied. In general I prefer physical suffering over humiliation. There aren't that many books out there satisfying in this regard. Most are geared towards D/s. Anything I give 3* and above and put on either my BDSM or sadomasochism shelves probably would belong to that group. Sometimes what I latch on to are small things, not noticeable to the non-sadist ;)

In the non-con m/m area I relatively recently liked The Winter Fisherman Lodge and Object D'Art. The first you might also possibly like, the second not so much I think (heed the warning tags, they are on the spot!).

And yes, R. Lee Smith truly works for me.
