Okay so I devoured this in a day but I'm a little conflicted about how to rate it. It's more about quite a few questions I have that were left unanswered or swept under the rug too quickly. None of them have to do with "safety gang" details just questions I was waiting to be answered. So I generally enjoyed the story but I felt like something was lacking in this book compared to book #1. The first book had the perfect mix of suspense, angst, and romance where as this book fell a little flat for me.

I'm going to do a little numbered rant so be warned now that there are major spoilers. CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

UPDATE: I'm very thankful that the book was safe. Maybe it's wishful thinking to think the author saw our comments and kept us mind when writing this book? There is an exception for (view spoiler)

Below is my initial reaction after having finished book #1 and everything below has been addressed above. lol.

Cherie Annie Wait, you think Dante slept with someone else after he broke up with her the second time? I think what his brother went back to tell her was something to do with his Mom. Like blackmail or something.

London No I mean I hope when he ended things when they were younger (the first time) that he didn't end up actually sleeping with Tiffany. Like if the whole point of breaking up with Scarlett and betraying her was to protect her from whatever is going on he better not have actually touched that bitch. I mean it's bad enough he has hurt her so badly and for so many years. It's completely unforgivable if he ended up sleeping with that bitch when it was supposed to be pretend and to protect Scarlett.

Like I would hope it took him a very very long time to become intimate with someone again and that it wasn't Tiffany. Honestly, my dream would be that he had only bee intimate with Scarlett throughout the years and that she just assumed he had been with others. Because he was he reason they ended to begin with and why they aren't together. That would be super romantic to me lmao

Cherie Annie Oh! I get it now. It would be super romantic! I do think he had something to do with her. I mean why all the fuss. Definitely his mom had something to do with it. She's probably blackmailing him along with that bitch Tiffany. It really could be anything because the ending didn't give you much of a clue. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Dee Amen ! If he sleeps with that bitch, I won;t care how well the author writes it. I don't care how helpless or whatever the fuck he was, this book is getting 1 starred.

message 5: by Karoline (new) - added it

Karoline Hi London! I'm so curious about ur theories but mines are killing me and I remember Scarlet said something like "was certain he had never resorted to her if I hadn't been so far." And I'm scared to say the cheating is a BIG possibility, it seems:( or not? IM SO CONFUSED.

Shona Ag-fucking-reed!!!

message 7: by Ana (new) - rated it 1 star

Ana I don't want to read this book because I'm 100% sure this will happen what you wrote above London! The end in the first book was just terrible and stupid from the author and ruined all.He will end up with this bitch and he will fuck her and worse Scarlett will chasing him and all will be forgiven....My experience from reading romance is that second book can only get worse

message 8: by Sophy (new) - added it

Sophy Sorn Had to agree with you, if he breaks up with her to protect her, I'm good with it. But if he sleep with the bitch after he broke up with her, then there's nothing to forgive because that's just low.

London Well hopefully the author sees these comments and takes the readers into consideration lol. I'm really excited to read what happens but I'll be raging if that does end up being the case. I mean after Tristan & Danika you can never be too sure with this author.

message 11: by Kai (new)

Kai remember what happen when tristan ended up fucking another woman after he cleaned ..LOL , i think the author will repeat that to make this book more angsty and make reader angry AF

Michele I couldn't disagree with you all, more. I gave five stars to the first book and no matter what happens in the second book I wouldn't touch that rating. To change a rating because you don't like where the story is going in the second book is so unfair and childish. R k lilley is one of the best authors, and I've read every single book she ever wrote. I have complete faith in her and that breaking her will be five plus stars. It's her right as the author to express her story the way she wants. If you really got to know the characters, you'd know that Dante would never hurt Scarlett on purpose. He would have to be tricked, black mailed, or worse. He was always the level headed, reasonable one of the two and from day one made it his job to protect her. He loved and still loves Scarlett and has to be doing all this to protect her from something really horrific. Scarlett, as damaged and insecure as she is on the other hand, might've jumped the gun and done something to sabotage the relationship unintentionally, but because of jealousy and her impulsive, defensive nature, fuck things up even further. For example sleeping with his friend.( can't remember his name but it was the one she mentioned in the end of the book that she thought loved her, and Dante agreed and said go easy on him. The pivotal point of the down ward spiral of their relationship was when she was marking her territory and was all over him In front of his friends, then talked him into doing it in the woods, when he was reluctant and also by convincing him to go bare back. My hunch is that someone got video of them. At the end She also mentions that she wondered if she again didn't get jealous and wasn't sulking and waited for him after practice and didn't walk off home on her own or took a different path that they'd still be together. So something happened that day that changed them forever. The only way Dante would of done anything wrong was because he was trying to protect her and was lied to , manipulated, blackmailed and worse. Scarlett didn't help any of it by creating more damage. Again have faith in your author and this comment and threatening to change your ratings only makes you look silly. The writer can't possible make everyone happy and is telling and creating a story from her heart. No one should get to dictate or even suggest how she ends it. It's her prerogative .
Sorry rant over.

London Honey, this is my opinion and my comments. I don't have to change them because you disagree with me. I 100% disagree with you and it's my right. The only person who looks silly is you for trying to insult someone on their own personal opinion about a book. This is what this website is for so kindly take your rude comment and keep it to your own page. Thanks!

Michele First off, don't call me honey, second, I have a right to my opinion, as much as you do. When a review pops up on a BOOK'S page(not your page) and a especially when it's a book not even out yet, which I feel is ridiculous in its self, I have a right to comment. I was trying to show you another perspective and point of view. This book and series is way deeper than who cheated on who. It's about two people who constantly have the world and odds against them, but their unconditional love and loyalty to one another is so strong and intense that no matter what, it never falters or fades. Your review/comment and threat to change your rating of book one, just because someone cheated, in my opinion, is trivial and shallow. In my opinion a rating should be based on the quality of the writing, whether or not it consumes you and you can't put it down, as well a many other literary reasons, not if Dante cheated. This genera is contemporary romance. It's fiction but not fairy tale romance with unicorns and rainbows. RK Lilley's books are dark, gritty, at times violent, mysterious and intense but Even with the ugliest of struggles that her characters go through there's always a happy ending. My suggestion, wait for the second book to come out, before reviewing/commenting on it and your review of your first book should stand as is, no matter what happens in the second. If you're a fan of this author and know how consistent she is, have a little faith she'll come through with this series. As for the first book, maybe you should re read it, really get to know the characters and their story. Try and read between the lines and open your mind a little. As you can tell I'm a huge fan of R K Lilley, and all her books. I can count on one hand how many times I've commented on any page, your so called review/comment simply annoyed me. By posting, commenting or reviewing, your leaving yourself open to responses. No disrespect or insult intended. Have a good day.

London Honey, I didn't read anything you wasted your time writing. I'm not interested. Stop trolling. Cya

London Not the heroine. we still don't know whether the hero did or not.

London In flight was 100% safe on both sides but it's big time BDSM romance. Pretty much a more intense FOSG

Michele My bad, wasting my breath, dealing with a child! Move on from this author, she's not for you. I think Disney has a few books for you. ;)

Michele And the reason you say you're not reading my comments , is because you have nothing valid to say in response. Lol too funny

London No it's because I don't like to deal with trolls on goodreads. Stop acting like a psycho it's really quite disturbing. Stop harassing people on goodreads!

~Nichole~ Sizzling Pages Romance Reviews The one thing I'm most disturbed about is she said this couple had unconditional love and loyalty. How would he get an erection and have sex with someone else and that be unconditional love and loyalty? Ok next she'll say.. You don't know if he did.. Then I'll say what would her defense be if it shows he did do it? How would this be unconditional love? Unconditional loyalty? As for changing a rating on a previous book you've read? I think that it's showing how you felt for the whole entire story which if it's a cliffhanger series all books can be rated together. I would absolutely hate for an author to tear apart a couple.. My best example that a true romance author who writes loyal characters is Katy Evans. Even though Brooke leaves Remy in book one.. Remy never touched another woman. The author made sure that we found that out. So I pray that this author shows that when a man loves a woman truly that his body belongs to her and she keeps him from being disloyal. I wonder why Michelle didn't say how she'd feel if he slept around while proclaiming he's unconditionally loyal and unconditionally loved the heroine. How would his actions sleeping with someone else prove that? Why not defend an author you love by saying she'd never betray their love? I think Michelle is not even sure if this guy will sleep around.

message 22: by Cyndi (new)

Cyndi Great point Nichole! Unconditional love and loyalty means faithfulness and not having sex with others. You can't have it both ways- Michelle isn't making sense. Plus she doesn't know what the next book will bring either. Michelle needs to find something else to do with her time and stop criticizing people's notes and reviews.

message 23: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Oh wow. Bitches be crazy lol!!! Seriously, you don't like or agree with a comment? Move it along. Are we in high school?? Lawd!

message 26: by EliseVioletReads (new)

EliseVioletReads I agree a 100%, cheating is an absolute NO-go for me. I won't read this book until I see reviews which deems this book as safe. I really didn't know that Tristan and Danika's book series had cheating in it.. wow I'm super pissed, I wished I had known this before I had bought all the three books of the series. Ugh.. thank god I can return them and get my money back, I'm doing that right after this comment.
I always thought of R.K. Lilley as a safe author..wow the disappointment is just brutal.
Hopefully there is absolutely NO cheating here or else I guess another author will be added to my "no-go authors list".

Thanks for the review.

Marivett Ladies, you are good to go :-)

London Don't play with my emotions like that!! Really?

London (view spoiler)

~Nichole~ Sizzling Pages Romance Reviews So did the heroine in this series here sleep with another man too? while they were separated and while you thought he was sleeping with someone else? So it's true she cheated..and you are trying to make sure He didn't cheat?? Just trying to understand LOL.

Fre06 Begum I am so sick of people trolling on other peoples reviews/comments, everyone has a right to their opinions! London I agree with u 100% I read a few series where I loved the couple but because of them being with other people in the second book I changed my ratings to low, it had nothing to do with the writing but the plot. I can't see a couple in a favourable light if by their actions after they have disappointed my feelings towards him/her. As someone who has spent time and money on reading books I have the right to voice my feelings without troll's getting all defensive!

Fre06 Begum I wish people would stop trolling on other people's reviews/opinions it's so annoying!

London It's just funny because I never go comment on other peoples review and attack them because I don't agree with what they wrote. Whether they liked the book or not it's none of my business. They act like the author is their best friend that needs their honor defended. Like the the hell out of here and crawl out of the authors ass.

I hadn't even rated the book or reviewed THIS book when I wrote my original review. I had only commented on how I WOULD feel should certain things come to light. And now that I know it's safe for me I updated it so it doesn't dissuade others from reading it.

London (view spoiler)

London No worries. That's why I put the exception tag.=)

London Yeah but I think she really wanted to hurt him badly and that was the best thing that came to mind. It was also when she was much younger and she did feel bad for doing it.

London (view spoiler)

London Tristan & Danika? Yeah

London From what I remember the changes occurred (view spoiler)

London I think only Tristan and Danika was unsafe

Gi's Spot Reviews Only Danika and Tristan series are unsafe. I read all of hers, except for the present one (not yet, lol), and the rest of her book are safe. One of my all time favorites, In Flight series, is completely safe! I adore that couple! ;)

Gi's Spot Reviews Thank you, sweetie for all the details and spoilers of this series! ;)

Cyndi Great review! It sounds like a lot of details were left hanging! So the H never slept with that bitchy OW or any OW?

Gi's Spot Reviews Cyndi wrote: "Great review! It sounds like a lot of details were left hanging! So the H never slept with that bitchy OW or any OW?"

Apparently he never sleep with anyone since h, not even during separation. ;)

London No, she loved him just as much as he loved her. She had no way of knowing he was lying. There were photos of him with Tiffany holding hands and throughout the years he purposely let her see him with other women to make her think he was with them too. She had absolutely no way of knowing that it has nothing to do with her not loving him the same amount. I would have found her pathetic if she stayed celibate thinking he was out living and enjoying other women. If she knew he had been celibate or was protecting her and STILL slept with other men then I'd agree.

The hero even tells her he doesn't blame her because he never let her think otherwise. It's his own fault. Honestly, he could have easily told her what was going on. He was with her in private plenty of times and could have told her to pretend like she doesn't know the truth.

Angeboy Reads-Alot Judging by your review and comments. Sounds to me like these type of stories are not for you, maybe you should just stick to chick lit/contemporary romance or books written by Marian Keyes or Hester Browne?

'Maybe it's wishful thinking to think the author saw our comments and kept us mind when writing this book?' Definitely wishful thinking
