When I bought "The Slow Regard of Silent Things" I knew it was a book focused on the secondary character Auri, the enigmatic and elusive character that appears in the saga of the "Name of the Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear" but honestly, I wasn't sure what I would find. When I started reading it I realized that in my hands I hadn't got just another book, at least not a book that contains an "ordinary" story. The truth is this story hasn't major conflicts, not even other characters or dialogues. The Slow Regard of Silent Things isn't a common book, it's a story that doesn't intend to be a story but a snapshot of the Auri's life in Sub-Reality, and more than her life, her way of looking life. For me, the most surprising fact of this little novel lies in the spirituality that seems to animate each of the objects and spaces in which Auri moves. Suddenly you can feel the sadness of the blanket, the anger of the flowers or loneliness of a tile. Patrick Rothfuss makes a strange but wonderfully meticulous work, I would say fine, so delicate that manages to transform the sensitivity to hypersensitivity. I hesitate to recommend this book to everyone because I know it's a risky and special novel, and all risks can have good or bad opinions. But for me, it's an extraordinary book, one of these small rarities that Auri could find in the dark waters of the pond of The Yellow Twelve.

Cuando compré La Música del Silencio sabía era un libro se centraba en el eprsonaje secundario Auri, el enigmático y escurridizo personaje que aparece en la saga del Nombre del Viento, pero sinceramente no sabía muy bien qué me encontraría. Al empezar a leerlo me percaté enseguida que en mis manos no tenía un libro cualquiera, al menos no uno que contuviera una historia cualquiera. En ella no hay grandes conflictos, ni personajes ni siquiera diálogos. La Música del Silencio no pretende ser nada de eso, es más bien un relato que no pretende ser un relato sino una radiografía de la vida de Auri en la Sub Realidad, y más que su vida, de su forma de ver la vida. Para mí lo más sorprendente de esta pequeña novela reside en la espiritualidad que parece animar cada uno de los objetos y espacios por el que se mueve Auri, de repente sientes la tristeza de la manta, la ira de las flores o la soledad de una baldosa. Patrick Rothfuss hace un trabajo extraño pero maravillosamente meticuloso, delicado diría yo, tan delicado que consigue transformar la sensibilidad en hipersensibilidad. No me atrevo a recomendar este libro a todo el mundo porqué sé que es un relato arriesgado y especial, y todo riesgo conlleva buenas y malas críticas, pero para mí es un libro extraordinario, una pequeña rareza como las que Auri podría encontrar en el fondo de las oscuras aguas del estanque del Doce Amarillo.
