Tana French's debut novel. I liked it more than you, Matthew, but she gets stronger with each successive book.

My wife has loved them all, so I will likely try again. The book kind of reminded me of Galbraith (Rowling) and those have grown on me after a clunky start, so I have high hopes for improvement!

I had just got done watching the first season of Hinterland when I read this and I had a heck of a time not picturing the characters from that show it was so similar. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much! But like grandpa always said, “ If everyone liked the same things, everyone would be after your grandma.” 😂

Oh dear Matthew, very funny. I loved this book, have read it twice and that doesn't happen often.

I've been hesitant about this one and wonder if I'd feel the same. And it's long...oh my!

Yeah, hard to say. I seem to be in the minority of not liking it, so it may be right up your alley.

On a positive note - my wife is many books deep into this series and loves it. She talks about it all the time and is excited they are making a show about it. Having her as an influence in my life means I will probably try more of them and I am excited to hear that people think it gets better!

The show is good but jumps around a lot between the first 2 books. My husband didn’t read the books but is enjoying the show.
