Compared to the voluminous Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, Anthem is a chapter.

But Rand may have been better adapted to writing shorter fiction because this one packs a lean, economical and hungry punch. Dystopian but told like a fable, this is a serious work that works on multiple levels. Very good.

Of the three works, I liked them in this order:

The Fountainhead
Anthem
Atlas Shrugged

Denis Good review Lyn. I had forgotten about that one. Read it several years ago but never reviewed it - so I did now.
You left out "We the Living" in your order. I would pop that one just below Anthem or even second after Fountain. I agree with you on Shrugged being at the bottom. It is a sort of all-in-one package. Too much and due to the earlier works: redundant.

Lyn After Atlas Shrugged, I think I'm all ayned out

Ritwik I loved 'The fountainhead' and thanks to your review I've generated an interest to tackle this 'chapter' of a book with a dystopian backdrop. :)

Lyn Thanks Ritwik

Alberto Good review Lyn! I appreciated the dystopian ideas, told indeed as a fable, like you said. Also what's discussed in the book about freedom, individualism and reason are interesting ideas, but I don't agree with much of them. It seems that some of her philosophy's ideas are discussed better in her next books. Do you think "The fountainhead" worth reading?

Lyn I just saw this Alberto, yes I think, even with its flaws, and considering that I dislike Rand as a person, it’s worth reading

Nicholas Atlas Shrugged is one of the few books I couldn't finish. Such rambling. The characters were as thin as the paper they were written on. I feel Ayn's entire philosophy is very basic and flawed. Her writing to simplistic to represent any real paradigm.

The run for me is that it inspired my favorite band ever. So kudos to her for that.
