Prey (Copper Mesa Eagles, #2)

Prey is the second book in the Copper Mesa Eagles series. And it was epic.
We start a few years after Predator (book 1), where Zach is 28 and a non-traditional university student. He can't shift, and we learn how that happens which is something I felt was missing from book 1. At a job fair, he meets Katrina, a biochem engineer who is manning the booth with her slightly crazy boss. Her boss is there specifically to find Zach after a video of his brother shifting has surfaced.
Katrina and Zach are attracted to each other immediately, with Zach seeing something special in her. For Katrina, in the back of her mind is the knowledge that her boss is up to something shady, but she really likes Zach. After a date where a lot of shenanigans were had, Zach is invited to her company to interview. And as we all know, crazy scientists are gonna do crazy stuff...
Katrina is like many women in the workforce, where she doesn't get the recognition she deserves and really struggles as a woman in a male-dominated environment. Because of this, as much as some of her decisions suck, you can kind of understand them, because it's easy to relate to her.
Zach is a sweetheart, who isn't as squeaky clean as the first book made him out to be. And as much as I love heroes who are super sweet, it does make him more fun to read about.
Together they had some incredibly funny, steamy and sweet moments. They were super fun to read about and this book really filled in the missing bits from book 1, which was awesome.
Prey was a great read and I can't wait for the next one, because that preview at the end just opened up a whole new mystery.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
