I'm too lazy to write a really compelling disavowal of Dracul. I wanted to compare Dracula with Dracul. Dracula is masterful while Dracul is bloated - and not with blood.
Dracul is not a worthy prequel. If one compares text from both books, Dracula is incisive, unrepetitive, purposeful, efficient, and successful.
I know that Dracul will survive the test of time, and that galls me. But it should not. The masterpiece that is Dracula remains unsullied. I can enjoy the latter in all of its purity. Amen.

Thank you! The signs are not the best, but it's only that I didn't take to the book like a duck takes to water. It's still a good first 10%. We'll see.

Thank you, I guess, preoccupiedbybooks...I like my reading experience. Right now I'm doing a couple of rereads that I'm yet to register here.

Sorry this was such a miss for you!

It was bound to be. Two persons writing a book out of the blue was not a good sign.

Even people who tried to give it the benefit of the doubt are feeling disappointed.

Yes, Crawdads too is unreadable. I believe you did like that review of mine. There are so many dishonest reviewers on this site. Glad that you didn't buy into the hype.

Reading this now. So fucking boring. the first third is talking about their boring nanny, or listening to Bram's idiotic sister ramble on and on.

I hear you, Kenny. There have been plenty of books that I've avoided that would have come from glowing reviews of friends on Goodreads. This book's recommendation, was one of them.

Excellent review, I tried to read this some time again and couldn't. Dracula is one of my favorite books of all time. Nothing can taint it!

Thank you! We are in the minority here, but I on my part, don't care about being so. I only rue the time I wasted on this, and also hope you don't get betrayed by the hype for future books of yours.

That's true, especially if one doesn't have a backlog of books already bought and lined up. I'm very glad that you liked Dracula and I wish you Happy Reading.🙂

Thank you, and good call. I imagine there exist people that don't like Dracula, but love Dracul. It's weird from my POV, but that's the characteristic of books.
