3.5 rounded up!
Snoop is a break-out, tech start up on the verge of an IPO (initial public offering) or a buy out..depending on which founding Shareholder you ask.
A music APP that let’s you “snoop” on your favorite celebrities by listening to the same music that they are listening to, at the same time-“like sharing ear buds-one for you and one for me”...
You choose who to “snoop on” and other subscribers can choose to “snoop” on you..
FIVE SHAREHOLDERS and FIVE EMPLOYEES from SNOOP are traveling to a ski chalet in the FRENCH ALPs, to discuss the future of the company.
Topher and his best friend, Elliott (2 of the Shareholders) want to go public.
Eva (Topher’s ex girlfriend) and Rik, (2 of the other Shareholders) want the buy-out.
The wild card is Liz-the fifth Shareholder.
She will cast the deciding vote.
But which two, will she be siding with?
Told from the alternating perspectives of Erin, the chalet hostess and Liz, the wild card Shareholder, the story unfolds as guests are eliminated ONE BY ONE.
With twelve characters, I found the cast, their role in SNOOP, and which side they aligned with to be mind boggling in the beginning.
I though I needed to make a chart-but really, you only need to remember who the shareholders are.
I rarely have a problem remembering large casts of characters but, in this case, only the two protagonists, were well developed, so I HAD to distinguish the others by their role in SNOOP.
Would it be important to understand the hierarchy within the company, and who each employee aligned with? Not really, but I couldn’t know that starting out.
Also, each chapter started with the # of Snoopers and Snoopscribers the narrator had. Should I be paying attention to that?
A lot to work out.
Too much.
As most of it did not matter when all was said and done. 🤦🏻♀️
By the 50% point, there seemed to be only one possible “killer”!
Perhaps it was meant to be more of a “WHYdunnit-than a WHOdunnit..?
Or, perhaps, I just missed my calling? 🕵️♀️😊
But then again, I did NOT correctly guess all of the VICTIMS-so maybe not!!
Turn of the Key, remains my favorite by Ruth Ware.
But, I enjoyed playing detective in this one.
Thank You to Scout Press for the digital ARC received though Edelweiss in exchange for a candid review!

Fantastic review as always! I think I enjoyed it a bit more than you. 😊 I loved Erin and Danny's friendship! I'll have to read Turn of the Key one of these days.
Great review Jayme! This sounds a bit confusing...I don't usually like to work that hard when I read. LOL...I loved Turn of the Key also!! As you know.

It WAS confusing Kim, at least for me! I really didn’t understand the APP at first, and that cast of characters was daunting!

Fabulous review Jayme! I think you missed your calling!🤣. I’m a bit nervous with all the characters! Sometimes I struggle with that! I’m too distracted lately!🤪

Potentially unpopular opinion but almost all of Ruth Ware's books have been a 3.5 rating for me (I round most up to 4). I'll keep reading them but I'm waiting for a 5 star read from her other than in A Dark, Dark Wood for me.

I agree, Amanda! They are entertaining enough BUT none have earned a 5 ⭐️ From me, either!

Great review Jayme! Glad it was 4 stars. I think I just love the name of the app. Snoop. Probably because it makes me think of Snoop Dogg, and then I start humming Gin and Juice to myself:) Yes, I'm in a weird way today!

Ok, I'll be ready to make a cheat sheet :) I don't mind guessing the ending if the journey is fantastic. Ware is hit or miss with me and I'm adjusting my expecations a bit. Great review!
Great review Jayme, I was underwhelmed (my new favorite word that I think Bridget used in a review :)
Thanks for the great review, Jayme. I've seen several similar reviews, so I'll think I'll take my time getting to this one ...

Jayme, yeah you can pretty much guess who the killer was from the beginning. I thought that I was being too picky because of my background about this though but glad to see you thought the same way.
I still graded it high because it didn't take away from the storyline especially the way it played out towards the end.
I also didn't think of why someone did the crime because criminals do not always have to have a motive. So I guess that biased me not to think of that this is just a novel! And that an author probably would give the criminal a motive!
