The Guest List

Yep, I didn't guess who the murderer was until it all went down! I love that!
I did figure out a couple of other plot twists but not the big one!
The Guest List is set on an island off the coast of western Ireland, over in the Galway area.
I visited Galway and the Aran Islands back in 2016. I loved having that for a book setting. When I was on the island of Inishmore, I could imagine the feeling of survival while living on an island like this, along with all the descendants that lived there over the years.
The island felt very epic and old while we stayed there. The island still spoke some Gaelic and that was fun to experience as well.
The Guest List has this feeling with the island, the superstitions and how rough of a place it was to live there.
I loved the location of this book!
The Guest List is about a rich and famous couple that decide to have their wedding day on this type of island.
The wedding planner, Aoife owns much or all of the island (not sure on that one) and throws in her bid for Jules (the bride) and Will (the groom) to have their special day located here.
They accept because Jules wants to please her Irish father and she likes the idea of having it in such a remote location for her business, "The Download".
Jules is ruthless, driven, cold and not an easy person to like.
Will, the groom is a TV personality that does a survival show. This setting is perfect for him and his career. Will and his TV show, "Survive the Night" made me think of what Bear Grylls does but not as cool as Grylls.
Will is a charming, gorgeous asshole that I didn't like from the beginning.
The wedding party is full of family, old friends and classmates that span over the years.
And maybe for Olivia and Hannah, you don't like anyone in this book.
In fact all the classmates from Trevellyan, they had a Lord of the Flies feel to their group and it definitely made everyone more creepier and deadly.
And that's why it works.
You suspect anyone could die and anyone could be the murderer.
In fact, you don't even find out who is killed until almost 70% into the book. And then you don't know who does the gruesome deed until the end.
And I'm stopping the review right here.
I do not want to give any spoilers away and the less you know about the plot, the better!! I didn't know much about the plot and characters except that it's a murder mystery and psychological thriller, along with Lucy Foley writing it.
I've read The Hunting Party by her and had as much fun reading that book as I did this one!
She's writing some fun, entertaining and binge worthy books so far. Well done Lucy!

Awesome Benji, not on the wait though. LOL!
Hope you like this one!
Thanks Mary Beth! I'm really enjoying her books so far. Both books that I've read by Lucy Foley have been highly entertaining. She's got to be a huge Agatha Christie fan. :D
