I REFUSE TO TORTURE MYSELF MORE THAN I ALREADY DID WITH THIS BOOK.

I thought From Blood and Ash had ‌zero plot. Or maybe the plot was invisible. Then I tried the second book and realised this one has even less plot than the first one. After that, I tried this trash. And guess what! Turned out this one has even ✨less✨ plot than the second one which I thought wasn’t even possible.

Ugh, this book made me realise I'm not giving enough credits to my history classes. Seriously, those never-ending history lessons were less boring. I know, you're probably thinking how can I judge a book I didn’t even finish but I did..I mean I read about three hundred and fifty pages and I believe I gave this book a fair chance. And it's just so boring I can't believe I actually managed to read that much.
So the plot:
-nothing.
Wait there is some inner jokes you might like.
Example:
Cas: 👁️👄👁️
Poppy: Oh,my gods! That is so inappropriate!

Me: dramatic much?

Also, this:
Poppy: I have a question.
Kieran: NoBoDy iS sUrpRisEd bY tHaT.

And this:
Cas: Poppy remember that one time you stabbed me in the first book?
Poppy: yeah. What about it?

Cas: ThAT wAs sO HoT.
Poppy: .....
My lost braincells: .....

Don't forget this:
Poppy: *gracefully breathing*
Cas: I'M SO UNWORTHY OF YOU
.

Look we get it Poppy is SO BADASS and stabbed you. But GET OVER IT!! IT’S BOOK THREE FOR GODS SAKE!

Also, Readers: So how powerful is Poppy?
Jla: YES.

Poppy is such a special snowflake, she has every kind of power. And she's like expert at every single one of them. I wonder if she can fly. I bet she can if she just put her mind into it. And everybody would be like: "oh my gods you are so special and we are so unworthy of you." give me a break!

Meanwhile there were some history lessons nobody cares about. It’s like JLA suddenly discovered these books are getting so popular why not start dragging them to six more books huh? Everything is so repetitive it's not even funny. Same jokes, same dialogue, boring QaA between Poppy and Kieran it's just awful and a hot mess.

I heard the last 10% are really good and probably some things actually happens but I refuse to waste more time of my life on this book. It's not worth it.
I can't believe people are "murdering trees" in order to publish this not so long book. My condolence to those trees.

lol thanks, honestly this book is weird. All the characters has weird names like " Tawny", "Hawke", " Penellaphe", "Teerman". Also, they calls Vampire as "vampry". The protagonist stabbed someone in the first book this one time and everybody is talking about how "badass" and "oh not like other girls" she is for like an eternity. Idk why am I reading this, maybe i just like to torture myself. 🤦‍♀️

Elle This review 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Certenly JLA is milking the cow 😆.

Yeah, somebody definitely should make her stop! 😂

Grace Goddammit I’ve been looking for the sane people. Thank the lord you exist. I wasted so much of my time skimming to get to that last ten percent. I just didn’t CAAAAAARRE.

Elle Grace according to her cult it’s a masterpiece 😂

spring ~♡ Grace wrote: "Goddammit I’ve been looking for the sane people. Thank the lord you exist. I wasted so much of my time skimming to get to that last ten percent. I just didn’t CAAAAAARRE."

Ikr? Why isn’t more people acknowledging the fact that THIS BOOK HAS ABSOLUTELY NO PLOT.

spring ~♡ Elle wrote: "Grace according to her cult it’s a masterpiece 😂"

Lol *her cult*? 😂 I can't stop laughing.

message 9: by Elle (new) - rated it 1 star

Elle L: The book should have been titled: “Everyone is Trying to Kill Me ... Let’s Fuck” Her Facebook group is beyond anything, they act like a cult 😂 Joke aside, I read a indie series that have more than a some similarities with this series. I don’t know why, but it’s something recurrent with JLA books I always got the impression that I read that before 🧐.

message 10: by Grace (new) - rated it 1 star

Grace Her cult - giving it 5 start six months ago, then reviewing it saying it wasn't great and KEEPING IT AT 5 STARS! lads, you don't know JLA - she will only keep doing this to you if you don't tell her to stop.

message 11: by Margo (new)

Margo Honestly I used to love JLA, but I’ve been soooo disappointed by every single book she’s released recently... I think it might be the end for me 😅 I don’t think I’ll even bother reading this one. I was (somehow?) excited to buy it and read it, I had some hope it would become good again... but after reading the reviews... yeah clearly I won’t bother. The stabbing joke has been used so much, I just want to rip my eyes out every time it’s mentioned 😅
So thank you for keeping me from 600+ pages of suffering

message 12: by Margo (new)

Margo And how did it go from a 3 books series to a 6 books + a POV + not one but TWO spinoff series ??

message 13: by M (new)

M I haven't finished yet but I totally agree with your list of the book's repetitive inside jokes... It's making it a slog and causing me to lose interest in the characters.

Hey are you talking about Fantasy of Frost? Tell me you are. Cause I totally got deja vu. It's like reading same book but as "popular" and "unpopular".

The reviews are so biased it's sad to read them. They are misleading so many people.

I should be honest, i never liked her that much. But somehow I still wanted to try From Blood and Ash cause "the hype". Never got so disappointed even though I had ZERO expectations.

spring ~♡ Margo wrote: "And how did it go from a 3 books series to a 6 books + a POV + not one but TWO spinoff series ??"

It's called "money making". I didn’t know about the two spinoff series. Like what would she even write? It doesn’t even have a plot yet.

spring ~♡ M wrote: "I haven't finished yet but I totally agree with your list of the book's repetitive inside jokes... It's making it a slog and causing me to lose interest in the characters."

She is totally milking the cow. 😂

message 19: by Grace (new) - rated it 1 star

Grace L: she has literally every single thing in there. She could pick from anything. Nothing is sacred. Save our souls.

message 20: by Neira (new)

Neira I found my people! Someone above commented the book should have been titled "Everyone is Trying to Kill Me...Let's Fu*k" and tbh that's the best and most accurate comment I've seen. 😂

message 21: by Elle (new) - rated it 1 star

Elle L: I didn’t read yet FOF, but my BFF did and thinks the same. I read an indie trilogy that have more than some similarities there’s a part that it was too much alike for my taste. I can’t with her anymore 🤦🏻‍♀️. First she catches the “Cassandra Clare Vibe” AKA “ Milking the Cow 🐮” and her ego is too much lately”.

Amechi Akomolafe This was such a waste of my valuable time. Extremely cheesy and slow-paced. It's obvious she is trying to stretch the story instead all she is achieving is poorly written storyline.

message 23: by Alex (new) - rated it 2 stars

Alex Nowakowski God I agree. A disaster

richa ⋆.˚★ There's a line in the book where Poppy herself calls herself "a unique snowflake". I should have DNFed the first book but alas I did not.

Tanisha Herondale THANK YOU! I’ve read the first two books of this series and hated them. Like it’s meh but it’s also 🤮

spring ~♡ Richa wrote: "There's a line in the book where Poppy herself calls herself "a unique snowflake". I should have DNFed the first book but alas I did not."

Oh no! How do I unsee the "I'm a special snowflake" thing? 😂 now I'm so glad I DNFed it.

spring ~♡ Tanisha wrote: "THANK YOU! I’ve read the first two books of this series and hated them. Like it’s meh but it’s also 🤮"

Trust me, compared to this one the first two books are kinda tolerable.

spring ~♡ Elle wrote: "L: I didn’t read yet FOF, but my BFF did and thinks the same. I read an indie trilogy that have more than some similarities there’s a part that it was too much alike for my taste. I can’t with her ..."

Well she also copied Vampire Academy in one of her series. It’s called Halfblood something I guess? And I heard so many times that she literally copies a lot of indie works. So I'm really not surprised this time.

spring ~♡ Amechi wrote: "This was such a waste of my valuable time. Extremely cheesy and slow-paced. It's obvious she is trying to stretch the story instead all she is achieving is poorly written storyline."

Agreed, and now there's gonna be SIX BOOKS. I wonder how can she stress this story that long!

Lari (semi hiatus) Good review!

Holly This review legit cracked me up! I read the first book and was underwhelmed. I definitely think I will stop there haha

spring ~♡ Holly wrote: "This review legit cracked me up! I read the first book and was underwhelmed. I definitely think I will stop there haha"

It doesn’t get better. I should have stopped after first book too.

spring ~♡ Elle wrote: "L: I’m going to read FOF 🤓 I will let you know what I think."

Can't wait to see your reaction Elle. Happy reading.

message 36: by Elle (new) - rated it 1 star

Elle L: I sent you a friend request ☺️ She definitely got “inspired” by FOF and the other indie series I mentioned. The girl from FOF is a LOT like Poppy 😬.

message 37: by Shaza (new)

Shaza Mohamed Ya my opinion exactly it was so disappointing and the public sex😣 had to skip so many pages and couldn’t finish it though

spring ~♡ Elle wrote: "L: I sent you a friend request ☺️ She definitely got “inspired” by FOF and the other indie series I mentioned. The girl from FOF is a LOT like Poppy 😬."

Keep reading, you’ll find more *similarities*. 😂

spring ~♡ Shaza wrote: "Ya my opinion exactly it was so disappointing and the public sex😣 had to skip so many pages and couldn’t finish it though"

I know! I prepared myself for all the smutty scenes but it was still gross.

message 40: by Wren (new)

Wren McNeil I couldn’t agree more. I’m almost finished chapter 22 and I don’t know how much further I’ll make it.

spring ~♡ Wren wrote: "I couldn’t agree more. I’m almost finished chapter 22 and I don’t know how much further I’ll make it."

I know right? Nothing happens until the very end or so I've been told.

message 42: by M (new)

M If you're pissed off with this book but feel like you need to know the end, skip to chapter 44 and read from there. I’m getting so irritated with authors stretching their novels out to 6 watered down books.

Meagan I could have written everything in this review. 😆 Except I did actually finish it. But I opted for the audiobook because I knew reading would end in DNF.

Viktoria I read the first two books and while they were entertaining, I knew I couldn't expect much. For some reason I still had hopes that some sort of plot would finally become clear - I was wrong. Thanks for reviewing! I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed by the hype. :)

spring ~♡ M wrote: "If you're pissed off with this book but feel like you need to know the end, skip to chapter 44 and read from there. I’m getting so irritated with authors stretching their novels out to 6 watered do..."

Thanks for the information. I already know some spoilers but I'm just don't care anymore about what happens to Poppy and Cas.

spring ~♡ Meagan wrote: "I could have written everything in this review. 😆 Except I did actually finish it. But I opted for the audiobook because I knew reading would end in DNF."

You’re more patient than I am I guess 😂

spring ~♡ Viktoria wrote: "I read the first two books and while they were entertaining, I knew I couldn't expect much. For some reason I still had hopes that some sort of plot would finally become clear - I was wrong. Thanks..."

Thanks Viktoria. :)

Booksfoodanddrinks Thank god! I thought it was me! Bad book.really bad

spring ~♡ Booksfoodanddrinks wrote: "Thank god! I thought it was me! Bad book.really bad"

No, there's a lot of us 😂

[On StoryGraph now] Onna You made a good call. The last 10% is exactly how you can stretch this series for another 3 books. Also: all the obsession with bloodlines and power became a bit concerning in this last book haha
