So I want to start off by saying that if the book club didn't vote for this as our January read, I most likely wouldn't have picked it up on my own ever. And now that I finished it, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have regretted it.

This isn't a bad book, it's just nothing I haven't seen before and I don't care about this concept enough to read it over and over again as if it's the first time like I can do with some others.

The beginning wasn't the most boring thing ever, I can think of worse ones, but I didn't like it. I wasn't fully on board until her last life. So it's not exactly a full half of the book that I liked...

So that almost-but-not-really-whole second half deserves four stars. I even cried three times. BUT THE REST. Noooooo.

The ending was predictable and it's a feel good one. I don't mind that. I mind that all her lives were as empty as she felt in her original one and yeah, they weren't right for her, but they all felt like the exact same life to me with barely any differences (except the music one).

The book has short chapters and it's under 300 pages so it has that going for it. It's a fast read despite the heavier topics discussed.

I didn't really know how to sort it. Fantasy and sci fi seemed wrong so eventually I just made a philosophy shelf. It fits there.

I can see why it's popular. I doubt I'll be rereading it though.

P.S. Why want another universe if this one has dogs?
