it was amazing
bookshelves: to-read

I am always in search of a new Regency author to follow and I've definitely found one. Ms. Bennett has written a delightful story with fun and charming characters and I had so much fun reading this book. My only complaint is that I haven't read the whole series - but that's on me! This is the fourth installment of The Disreputable Debutantes. The story pulled me in from the beginning and kept my interest all the way through. Lady Charlotte is in danger of ruining her reputation forever. She is being blackmailed by a disreputable nobleman who is threatening to reveal a very embarrassing passage from her stolen journal. Max, the Duke of Exmoor, comes to Charlotte's rescue when he finds out that his best friend's sister is in danger. Coincidentally, he is also the object of Charlotte's desire. He offers her a fake betrothal in order to stop the gossip. Max felt duty bound to help Charlotte, but what is he to do with these pesky feelings of desire that are now popping up every time he is near her? Will he give in to his feelings? Charlotte for her part does everything she can to win the heart of the man she has always loved. This was such a well-written and absolutely fun read and the chemistry between Max and Charlotte just jumped off the page. A delightful story you do not want to miss - definitely recommend!
