Lady Charlotte Hastings—already branded a hellion by polite society—is in a terrible scrape, courtesy of London's most notorious blackguard. One thing is certain: her name cannot appear in the gossip rags... again. However, Charlie's bold attempt to extricate herself from the fine pickle she's in takes an unexpected turn, when the devilishly handsome Maximilian, the Duke of Exmoor—the rakehell she's secretly loved for years—comes to her aid.

Upon discovering the irrepressible Lady Charlotte—his best friend's younger sister—is in danger, Max Devereux feels duty bound to offer assistance. Only, he soon realizes he's also mired in deep trouble, when an entirely inconvenient desire for Charlie sparks to life. If that's not enough to contend with, Max's manipulative mother is busily engineering his betrothal to a perfectly polished debutante. A hardened rake with an armor-plated heart, Max has absolutely no intention of becoming leg-shackled to anyone. At least, not this Season.

When unforeseen disaster strikes, plunging both Charlie and Max headlong into a new public scandal, Max proposes a deal: to restore Charlie's good name and to help Max avoid his mother's machinations, they'll enter a temporary engagement-of-convenience. But, even the best laid plans can go awry. As passion flares between Max and Charlie, their arrangement doesn't seem like make-believe anymore... and hidden enemies intent on ruining Charlie, once and for all, are waiting in the wings. Will a happily-ever-after ever be within their reach?

It wasn’t bad but the number of positive reviews can only be explained by people who enjoyed the series before and were already predisposed to like the book bc as a standalone it just wasn’t it. The blackmail and terrible mother were just made to annoy me. It also just wouldn’t end. It took me so long to read and the last hour seemed endless. A lot of the dialogue felt unnatural, but I can’t tell if it was the writing or the narrator.

Lady Charlotte Hastings has been written off by polite society as a hoyden already and now her soiled reputation is at further risk as she’s being blackmailed by a notoriously disreputable baron. She has to keep her name from appearing in the gossip pages yet again, so she makes a daring and rather desperate move to remove the baron’s blackmail ammunition. Even this doesn’t turn out as she expected when her brother’s friend, Max, a notorious rake whom she’s secretly loved for years, insists on helping her.

Maximilian Deveraux, the Duke of Exmoor, feels he must help Charlie, if only because he owes her brother a debt of honor, but he soon realizes his error when he can no longer fight his long dormant attraction to her. Inconvenient timing as his meddlesome mother is trying her best to force his betrothal to a sparkling debutante with a pristine reputation, but Max has no intention of marrying anyone anytime soon.

When scandal unexpectedly erupts despite their best efforts to quell it, Max makes a proposition to Charlie: an engagement, temporary and in name only, to restore her reputation and buy him some respite from his mother and the ruthless pursuit of other debutantes. As the connection between them solidifies and it becomes clear their attraction is mutual, their engagement starts to feel real. But there are still unknown villains intent on ruining Charlie permanently and a happy ending for her and Max seems increasingly unlikely.

I loved this book. Charlie was determined not to give up on Max and her faith in him and his feelings for her showed her strength. Even more, she was unwilling to settle for less than the love match she deserved and no matter how much she adored Max, she wasn’t about to compromise for pieces of him. With that kind of steadfastness and her utterly relatable body image insecurities, even with her impulsive tendencies, it was impossible not to love Charlie. So of course, Max felt the same way, he just had a lot of emotional baggage and scarring to deal with first. The reckoning between them was one of the best, most romantic, emotional, and relatable scenes I’ve read. I adored it and made lots of highlights and it left me feeling warm and fuzzy for some time after I finished. I also loved how Max and Charlie came to each other’s defense and were utterly devoted to one another, even before he was willing to even admit his feelings to himself. This was an excellent read, a satisfying conclusion to the series, and I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

Lady Charlotte Hastings is in a bind. A blackmailing nobleman has stolen her journal and is threatening to publish an embarrassing passage. She must get it back by any means necessary, even if that means sneaking into a scandalous club in disguise. Maximilian Deveraux, Duke of Exmoor, jumps to the rescue when he discovers his best friend's sister in danger. But trouble seems to follow Charlie and, a duel and fake relationship later, Max is confronting the reality of his completely "inconvenient" feelings.

This is the fourth book in the Disreputable Debutantes series. It is by far my favorite! It can be read alone, but all the series' couples make an appearance and there are tie-ins to plot points from the previous story.

I've been waiting for Charlie's story and it did not disappoint! She was labeled by polite society as a hoyden due to finishing school expulsion, and now her already tarnished reputation is further at risk. Enter Max, object of her desire, her brother's best friend who is trying desperately not to drool over her luscious curves. He offers up a fake engagement in order to quell the gossip and, despite what he pledges to her brother, he tells Charlie it's her choice how the betrothal ends: her crying off or their marriage. But Charlie doesn't want half-measures, she's determined to win Max's heart or walk away all together.

I loved how these characters evolved. Max wasn't completely against falling in love, he just didn't think it could happen to him. His parents were icy monsters and he didn't believe he had the ability to love. Charlotte was working on loving herself, and she never stopped believing that Max could want her the way she wanted him, both physically and emotionally. This was an incredibly satisfying read!

Tropes: Best Friend's Sister/Brother's Best Friend, Fake Relationship, Full Figured Heroine

Eggplant Rating: 4 (four scenes, including carriage oral)

What a way to end a fabulous series, I loved this one so much and getting to see Lady Charlotte Hastings, Charlie go after the man of her dreams and wishes this one was a page turner of a book, I found it very hard to put down, Amy Rose Bennett you have ticked all of the boxes in this story, it has everything that a reader wants in a beautiful historical romance.

Charlie is the last of the disreputable debutants to find her rake and now she is in more trouble thanks to a rotten cad of a man and it looks like another scandal is sure to ruin her forever more, she has to take drastic measures to get her property back, this then brings her to Maximillian, the Duke of Exmoor, her brother’s best friend in a very risqué situation.

Max Devereux is shocked to find Lady Charlotte in a place like this and dressed the way she is, but when he finds out how much danger she is in he will do anything he can to help her, it is his duty to do so but he must be careful to keep his eye on the task and not on Charlie because Max does not do love and finding a wife is out of the question. When another scandal erupts Max as a gentleman steps up and offers Charlie a deal to protect her and himself from his mother’s wish to find him a wife, an engagement for the season.

Things don’t always go as planned and as passion and desire like Max has never felt before heat up, their fake engagement is turning into something real and sensual, throw in some enemies who have an agenda of their own and Charlie is in more danger, not just of scandal this time.

MS Bennett has never disappointed me with one of her stories and this one was fantastic, beautifully written so many emotions, there is lots going on as Charlie and Max enjoy a very sensual journey to the HEA they both deserve so much, Charlie is such a great heroine, I loved that what she wants she goes after, she is filled with passion and energy and Max what a hero, protective, loving what can I say. It was fabulous catching up with the other debutantes and their rake husbands, I do highly recommend this book as I do the series, they are a must read.

Thank you to the author for my digital copy to read and review.

I am writing this after reading the whole series. Essentially, a similar review will work for all four books in the series. Hence DO NOT read them one after the other, so please space them out.

Quick Thoughts
- Great writing. I've always admired Ms Bennet's work.
- The "will she-won't she" got boring after a while. The emotional holdout until the end felt exceedingly cyclical; thus, the story felt long, and I skimmed it for the most part.
- Max was a darling. I loved him.
- Charlotte showed promise.
- Some steamy moments.

After reading six hundred-odd books in this genre, there was nothing new here.

Will he recognize his feelings run deeper than what he is willing to accept...

Wow, sad to think it is the last in this series. I have come to love all these young misses looking for a bit of adventures in a world closed to them because of their sex.
Charlie is the heart of this group of four friends, she is the one who dares and does not back down. She struggles to follow rules why she finds ways to thwart them, even if there is a price to pay. She is no shy miss, even when cornered, she gives as good as she receives, still she has her own issues, mostly due to her physical appearance. Because she does not fit the expected mold with her curvaceous shape, she does not see herself as desirable. Yet she does not let it stop her, she is young woman full of hopes and dreams, she goes for what she wants and when mistakes are made, she faces them.
Max believes sincerely he is unable to love, that he has closed his heart to emotions a long time ago. And while he is drawn to Charlie, he acknowledges it is only lust, as nothing can be expected from him.
Still he is able to recognize her masked and disguised at first sight, he jumps instantly in the fray to defend her honor and trusts her even over his blood kin. And whatever he tells himself, can’t keep him away from her.

Before everything, they are friends, and while they explore their relationship, they already have a mutual respect for one another, they trust the other implicitly. Charlie has been in love with Max since they met, but she also knows his aversion to marriage. And even if she would never say no to having her dream Duke by her side, she won’t settle for crumbs of him. Max on his side, must drop his blinders before being able to offer more to her, but he is so set on his path, he will need some eyes opening facts to slowly realize Charlie is no common society’s miss.

Oh my!
Max’ mother, what a harpy. I still feel she did not get her right comeuppance.

They are in for a poignant and moving journey paved with discovery, trustworthiness, betrayal and friendship ...

The Duke of Exmoor, Max Devereux, is a sinfully handsome rakehell who suffers from an inability to love because of his horrible childhood. Lady Charlotte “Charlie” Hastings is a daring, disreputable (in some people’s eyes), curvaceously attractive debutante that doesn’t fit societies rules. Charlie has been ridiculed and looked down upon, the subject of many articles written by the salacious paper The Beau Monde Mirror, and does not want her family to suffer from any more scandals because of her.

Max is very protective of Charlie and attracted to her but keeps her at a distance since she is his best friend’s little sister. He may not believe it but it he is a genuinely good man that comes to the aid of not just Charlie but others. Charlie has loved Max since she first saw him at age 16 and wishes he would just act on his impulses with her instead of trying to be a gentleman.

This is the last book in The Disreputable Debutantes series. It's based on four young women that get expelled from their academy because of unbecoming conduct. The series follows all the girls finding love. They initially put a list of gentleman together for all of them to find husbands. Charlie puts Max at the top of the list, hmm. Throughout the books you realize that she has a tendre for Max and that he is aware she is growing up but her brother has clearly said keep away from her. So he has kept his distance until Charlie has her journal stolen by Baron Rochfort. And then the louse tells all her secrets to The Beau Monde Mirror. Max steps in and defends her, proposes out of convenience but of course tells her he will never love her, and the story begins. A great read that took me away from life for a while. All the sexual frustration, sizzling chemistry, unrequited love, and gender inequality stirred my angsty soul and then the happy ending left me deliciously satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend all the books in this series. This book and the first in the series are falling for best friend’s sibling tropes, which I adore. I was given an ARC of this book and chose to post my review.

"She was his best friend's sister... Yes he must keep his distance, just like he'd always done." But he would help her.

Charlie is the last of the debutantes that had gotten thrown out of school and now she was in a mess again. Rochfort had stolen her private notebook and threatened to have it published, but Max was coming to her rescue. Max Devereux, Duke of Exmoor, who'd she'd had feelings for since she was sixteen.

An endearing story of two people, each having their own insecurities, that were perfect for each other. If only they can admit it to each other. I adored Max and Charlie was a minx but loved her too.

I think this may be my favorite of this series, but I have loved every one!

How to Catch a Devilish Duke, by Amy Rose Bennett. Alright you historical romance lovers you. Pull up a seat and let’s review this extraordinary vivacious book. Amy has left me thoroughly pleased with reading this romantic novel. Once I finished reading it, I was swooning for Max. OMG! Let - me - tell - you, that man knows how to take care of a woman in and out of the bed. Charlie is a little kinky herself, but we’ll talk about their romance in a bit. Let’s get back to Amy’s writing. The description and details to the story offered me the imagination and visualization that I needed to really enjoy this story.
This made the book easier for me to read. The entertainment was great. The different subplots and plots help contribute to the drama that was the epitome of intense. It was resentful in so many ways. The suffering and the anguish that Charlie went through made me really connect with her character.
In some ways, I’ve had Charlie moments. I think that’s what made me enjoy this even more. All the characters definitely brought their “A game”. Their character were written so well. I believe that the author took her time in cultivating the persona of these characters, particularly Charlie, Max and Max’s mother Cressida.
Lord that woman is like the devil who enjoys disintegrating blocks of ice for sport. All the characters played off each other so well. I could tell this from the dialogue with the characters in each scene. It flowed from one scene to the next. I didn’t get lost in translation.
The topics of discussion wasn’t boring in the least. They kept me intrigued with the mystery, suspicion and most definitely when it came to the passionate moments between Charlie and Max. Those parts were my favorite, because Max’s character spoke with a silver tongue that had me salivating to read more from his lips. This love story spoke with a lot of realism that exploded within the story. I genuinely loved that.
Amy kept the facts straight and added the realities of tragedy from family, self confidence and the fear of giving your heart over to someone else. These few inadequacies played so well with the characters emotions as well as mine. As promised let’s discuss the brief outline of the story. First of all. I need to give high praise to the author for writing a historical romantic novel of the ton with a big beautiful woman as the leading character.
Let’s give the writer a round of applause for that. So, apparently Charlie and Max are that couple where best friend is for warned not to touch best friend baby sister. “That’s so cute”. I had to laugh at that. Charlie incorporates the help of Max to hunt down and retrieve a journal that’s very precious to her.
On their adventure to track down said journal, they partake in blackmail. Disguised meetings in the dark. Fisticuffs and meetings at dawn are arranged and taken place on traditional landmarks. And if that isn’t enough for Charlie and Max, best friends, sisters, brothers and wicked meddling mothers get involved too. All for the sake of appearance and who would be the tons gossip of the season.
Oh! I almost forgot the towns rag column somehow stays two steps ahead of the in the know business. No one knows how this happens or whose controlling the publishing. Charlie makes it her mission to crack this mystery. Meanwhile as all of this is happening around Charlie and Max.
They explore the raw, hot, burning need and desire with each other. Max’s strength of his desire for Charlie is so week that he has to have her at all cost. Charlie is no shrinking violet. She shows Max somethings that takes his ecstasy to heights that he never wants to come down from. Yes girl!
I recommend this book with two snaps and a, “ frankly dear mother, I don’t give a damn”. Until next time my fellow readers... read on! I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.

So many ways for a lady to ruin her reputation in the days of dashing dukes that one hardly has to try. But when Charlotte's journal is taken and the blackmailing starts, well then one is really in a pickle. I enjoyed this Debutante installment as it could be read as sad and scandalous or somewhat as a rom-com, either way, we root for Max and Charlie. A well-done regency tale with some depth to the storytelling.

Sighs. We have reached book 4. Sounds like it might be the last one because she was the last girl of the group to finally find love.

The story follows Lady Charlotte and Max Devereux. Lady Charlie has been on the edge of polite society since she was kicked out of the girl's school for unladylike behavior and since she is seen as the leader of the trope, she is seen as even more of a hellion. But now she is in trouble again...and Max might be the only person who can help.

I am in loveee with that cover! That dress...the colors. Beautiful indeed!!

Yayy! I've been rooting for these two to get together since I seen them first interact. I knew they would be perfecccctttt together. And Charlie deserved love. Max too especially when we learn about his terribly sad childhood. Poor guy :(

The mystery was fun and unexpected. It blew my mind for sure when all the reveals came out at the end. It all made sense though! Loved it!

This was one of my favorite of the series. Max and Charlie are perfect together. Max is damaged and Charlie is struggling to fix her image. It starts with a convenient engagement to help both of them and then actual love.

I do hope we get more in this world. I loved the stories and the people. I really want to see a couple side characters find happiness like Max's sister-in-law. Poor girl. So sad.

They did change up the narrator in this one. I was nervous, but this narrator did well! Her voices fit. The Scottish accents were a little rough at first for some of the characters, but I liked her. It worked well.

In the end, this was one of my favorite of the series. I loved Charlie and Max. They deserved happiness. I hope we get more! Too sad to say goodbye! I'll give this 5 stars.

This is the fourth book in this captivating series, it could be read on its own but if you love series then I’d recommend reading from the start. Another well written engrossing, brilliant read. I loved both Max & Charlie, she's full of life & he's 'I'm not going to fall in love' duke, however the chemistry between the pair was electric & I was totally drawn in from the first page & enthralled until the very satisfying ending. I loved how their relationship developed & how they fell in love. A heart warming book which I highly recommend

When Charlotte, who is no stranger to scandal, is blackmailed by a wicked rogue over her personal notebook he stole, she is in despair and trying to steal it back. Instead she ends up with help from a surprising source. Max, the Duke of Exmoor is Charlie's brother's best friend and Charlie has been smitten with him since she was 16. Max finds Charlie in a compromising situation and vows to help her. This begins and adventure with an evil thief, a gossip columnist, and ambitious mothers. The two work together to fix each other's problems but can they fight the attraction and love blooming between them even as they face danger?
I absolutely adored this book. There was so much dimension in the story. Something around every corner. The characters were real and you felt them and all the emotions. This was actually my first Amy Rose Bennett book and I was blown away.

Amazing story of Lady Charlotte Hastings, a disreputable debutante, and Maximilian Devereux, the Duke of Exmoor, a friend of Charlotte's brother who is determined to not get involved despite his attraction. Loved these characters!! Felt for Charlotte (with a little laugh to go along with it) and all the troubles she got into, and my heart broke for Max and his family story. Sexual progression was also well done, and believable. Highly recommend.

Disreputable Debutante writes scandalous lists of things she MUST do, it is discovered, and titular duke helps her fulfill them. I know I've read this before--and recently--but it is a common trope in romance novels.

The characters likable, if a bit predictable. She is a hoyden, he has family trauma. She wants to marry for love, he is uncertain if he is capable of emotion. This last bit is not evident anywhere in his character as the Duke bent over backwards to make Charlotte happy.

The ending knocked a star off the rating. There was already enough drama in the relationship and the forces trying to pull them apart that the "twist" was unnecessary.

I'm also not a fan of epilogues, but them seem to be requisite in romances, so I'll get over it.

Very entertaining! Charlie is daring, unconventional, full-figured, secretly a bit unsure of herself, but not afraid to speak up. I had really been looking forward to her story and she's just fabulous. Pair her with Max, who is a devilishly charming rake with some issues from his past, but always supportive, loyal and non-hyprocritical and you have my favorite pairing of the series. I loved how Max, even though he couldn't acknowledge it as love, was always doing things for Charlie and how he kept telling her that nothing would lower her in his esteem. Charlie did bounce a bit between seeming young and a little naive to smart, mature and forward thinking. She might not charm every reader because of this. I found her utterly adorable and really empathized with her ups and downs and how she was basically bullied by society. The pace is quick and witty, though there are some real issues that are dealt with in a subtle but interesting way. There were a few odd moments where I felt the characters were having long conversations in situations where that didn't make sense, and I didn't like how the antagonists were dealt with so that dropped the rating just a touch.

Good example of both brother's best friend and friends to lovers tropes, as well as fake engagement("ish"---I liked how Max presented the deal). Can absolutely be read as a standalone (and I almost did as this was the story that grabbed my attention originally), though I'm glad I read all the DD's stories as it is beneficial to have the whole story arc, the characters are featured throughout, and it is just a good series.

Bennett's writing is rich and enjoyable. This is my first series of hers and I liked it a lot overall. I will continue to read this author. She incorporates places and things of the period in a realistic and seamless way, really immersing you in the world. I do find her steam level a bit difficult to decide on. She usually gets in 2 or 3 good hot scenes, but they seem to come in the latter part of the books.

I wish for maybe a novella for Diana, as I had also been hoping for a story for that fellow.

A positive side note: The covers in this series are just gorgeous. I really love it when they are so true to the details of the book, even down to the dresses (and glasses for Arabella's story).

A negative side note: Something I noticed all the way through the series that bothered me a bit is the author's/characters' use of people's full names a large portion of the time---or if the main group of friends is thought of or mentioned, their names are listed out anyway, sometimes even with titles. It was most notable with Maximillian Deveraux, Duke of Exmoor as almost every time, except when someone is speaking directly to him, he is referenced in that way (and not because he was being introduced or something). It felt excessive and unnecessary. Sometimes one character would talk about someone (with full name) and then someone else would also-in the same conversation-use their full name again. We knew who those people were (even if you hadn't read the whole series), the characters knew the people, often very well, and it just grew sort of irksome.

This story made me think of the song Nat King Cole sang "L-O-V-E" found on youtube. Max and Charlie's love story is complex. Each had a painful history to overcome. The source of Charlie's problems came from partly the same place as Max. Charlie grew up in a loving accepting home. Whereas Max grew up with an ice-cold manipulative mother and a wicked twisted father who believed all the wrong things needed to make a boy a man. At age twelve Max decided never to love anything or anyone. As thus he led his life until he met Charlie. Someone had it out for Charlie. It was if someone was spying on her and her every misstep was splash across the gossip rags. She was dubbed "the disreputable debutante". Charlie's life was far from boring and Max was there to lend a hand when covert things needed done. She was being blackmailed but when she thought she was safe; her life again was splashed across the pages of the gossip rags. It seemed like misfortune followed Charlie as any misstep was fodder for the gossip columns. Little did she know who was behind this and why. Never in a million years would she have ever known what was causing her fall from grace to become the disreputable debutante. Despite all the problems and hurdles they had to overcome Charlie never lost her faith that one day Max could love her. A wonderful exciting drama filled story that will keep you turning page after page. A must read. I highly recommend it.

Below are the lyrics to Nat King Cole's song which I thought was quite fitting for this book.
L-O-V-E

O is for the only one I see

Starring Lady Charlotte “Charlie” Hastings and Maximilian “Max” Devereaux, the Duke of Exmoor.

Tropes: Unrequited love, older brother’s best friend, fake engagement, and a little intrigue.

Wowza!! Max and Charlie will certainly give you all the feely-feels. I absolutely loved these two!!

I felt so bad for Charlie... the Ton constantly snickered and belittled her character, but she always managed to keep her head held high. She’s a very strong heroine and I love that she’s constantly teasing Max with her feminine wiles... poor Max never stood a chance.

Max has loads of emotional baggage and learned to harden his heart at an early age (you’ll meet his mother and understand). But the harder they resist, the harder they fall... in love. And soon Charlie starts chipping at the ice wall around his heart. I love when he finally lets go and give in to his attraction to Charlie. I was inner squeeeing all the way.

There’s a little bit of intrigue that’ll keep you glued to the pages to see how this story was going to play out. But the romance between Max and Charlie always took the lead. I highly enjoyed this book.

The amazing Amy Rose Bennet, once again, wrote a story that had me falling in love and cheering for her wonderful characters. I love getting lost in her world. She’s a brilliant writer.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

My Star Ratings: 5 stars
Ugly cried AF. Major book hangover. Characters and storyline were freaken amazeballs. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will definitely be reading this story over and over and over again!!

Opinions Expressed here are entirely my own fault.

I really enjoyed this ADULT book, even though it has some ridiculous moments, such as when Charlotte💃💋 and Max🐺🍆⛲💪🔪🔫 break into the evil Baron's house and stand around conversing in normal voices and wasting time, while they are supposed to be looking for her diary in secret.

This is such a wonderful story as two ornery but likeable people fall into their own trap, in all the best ways, of course!

Lady Charlotte Hastings is a “wild child” who has gotten herself in enough troubles to be known as a hellion. She is being targeted, but she must be careful of her reputation at all costs. Much to her surprise, and secret delight, Maximilian, the Duke of Exmoor whom she has loved for years, steps up to help her clear up the mess she is heading for. Lady Charlotte is Maximillian’s best friend’s younger sister, so he takes this as his duty to offer help. He has his own troubles as well with his mother arranging a betrothal for him to a woman he has absolutely no interest in marrying.

When another scandal threatens both Charlie and Max, he offers her a deal. In order to restore her good name and avoid the trap his mother is setting for him with the debutante, they will become engaged – only temporarily – until things quiet down. Unfortunately, neither can stop the passion their both feel for each other and their relationship is becoming quite real! Will they allow themselves to accept a real marriage as a possibility? Or will one or the other bail out of the engagement before the commitment becomes permanent?

It started off well. Charlotte sneaking into a gentleman's club to retrieve her stolen notebook from a blackmailer. Who does she meet inside? Max of course. Her brother's friend, and the man she has been in love with since she met him as a teenager. Inside the notebook, she has written a list of her dreams and if she doesn't pay they will be printed in a newspaper gossip column. When they fail to find the notebook at the bordello, they break into the blackmailer's home. This is great, right? The problem is, they find the notebook in the first few pages, and the remainder of the book is a duel, a house party, and a fake engagement. Charlotte desperately wants Max to fall in love with her. He's just a stubborn man when he says he won't and she can make him change his mind. Max had a terrible childhood and doesn't believe he can love anyone. Of course this changes with very flowery dialogue and speeches of awe when he looks at her. There's some excitement again when it's revealed who is behind the gossip columns. Only, the reason this person had been trying to ruin the life of a young girl from age 17 to 22 was, wait what huh? Overall I enjoyed the series, this just wasn't my favorite of the four books.

Once again, Charlotte (Charlie) finds herself in a jam. But this time, Max comes to her aid. In doing so, Charlie has to reveal how deep she is in trouble. To help her out, Max and Charlie become engaged. It is supposed to be just for appearances, but Charlie has loved Max for years. Can she convince him to make it one in truth?

Max feels duty bound to help out Charlie, because her brother is his best friend and he has known her for years. But spending so much time with Charlie makes him realize that what he feels for Charlie goes beyond friendship. When it seems that someone is out to ruin Charlie, Max does everything in his power to stop it.

Will this temporary engagement lead to something more permanent?

I adored Charlie and Max's story! I have been dying for Charlie's story since the beginning of the series and Bennett did NOT disappoint!! I just loved watching these two together and finally getting their HEA. Charlie was amazing, standing up to those that were trying to ruin her. I loved that!!

I loved this series and am sad that it is done. But I can't wait to see what Bennett comes up with next!

Loved this story as a conclusion to this series of strong minded wild but fun women and the men who finally saw the truth. Max was a flawed Duke though he looked perfect on the outside but scars from his childhood hold him back. Charlie the wildest of the bunch who knew what she wanted and wouldn’t give up on it. Amy wrote a story that you knew how these two felt for each other but he couldn’t or wouldn’t allow to happen. It flowed and drew you in from the beginning with how the two characters came together in this book till the last page. Forces trying to drive or keep them apart made you want to keep reading to find out why. I highly recommend this book. The book can be read independently from the others in the series but highly recommend reading the books in order as there is a few pieces of the story that might confuse the reader if you haven’t read the other books. Amy has an easy way of writing that draws the reader in. Pick this book and the rest of the series up. You won’t be disappointed.

I am always in search of a new Regency author to follow and I've definitely found one. Ms. Bennett has written a delightful story with fun and charming characters and I had so much fun reading this book. My only complaint is that I haven't read the whole series - but that's on me! This is the fourth installment of The Disreputable Debutantes. The story pulled me in from the beginning and kept my interest all the way through. Lady Charlotte is in danger of ruining her reputation forever. She is being blackmailed by a disreputable nobleman who is threatening to reveal a very embarrassing passage from her stolen journal. Max, the Duke of Exmoor, comes to Charlotte's rescue when he finds out that his best friend's sister is in danger. Coincidentally, he is also the object of Charlotte's desire. He offers her a fake betrothal in order to stop the gossip. Max felt duty bound to help Charlotte, but what is he to do with these pesky feelings of desire that are now popping up every time he is near her? Will he give in to his feelings? Charlotte for her part does everything she can to win the heart of the man she has always loved. This was such a well-written and absolutely fun read and the chemistry between Max and Charlotte just jumped off the page. A delightful story you do not want to miss - definitely recommend!

WOW…JUST WOW!!!! How to Catch a Devilish Duke by Amy Rose Bennette is book 4 in The Disreputable Debutantes series and I am stunned at how good this book was. I stayed up to 4:00am because I could not put it down. I will confess that this is the first book I have read of Amy’s and telling you it will not be the last. I love finding great new authors!!! The story was original, the characters lovable and descriptions paint a very clear regency picture. What I loved most about this book was the writing was really well done and I never lost interest in this book. It captured me from 1 to the very last page. Also it had a bit of a mystery to it. This story has a disreputable debutante, a brother’s best friend, a secret crush, a horrible mother, a gossip column, kindness, supportive friends, evil, a duel, breaking into a home, not being able to love, blackmail, protectiveness, and finding love. This book has it all and so much more… I highly recommend it but be prepared to stay up all night!!!

I've loved all the books in this series and especially this one. Lady Charlotte met her brother's best friend Max when she was sixteen and he was twenty-two. She fell for him instantly, but he always ignored her. Now she is twenty-two and had been disgraced by a rag newspaper that keeps finding new things to bring up. At a b a ll, she was in a library and a man started talking to her and after henleft, she noticed her diary was missing from her reticule. It had something she needed to get back from the man who was blackmailing her. Max helped her get it bacj, but her list was published anyway. It was amazing the lengths his mother went to to break them up. There was a lot of intrigue, but.The ending was great.

Amy Rose Bennett is one of my favorite authors and she just keeps getting better and better. I received an ARC of "How to Catch A Devilish Duke". All opinions and thoughts are my own about this advanced copy review.  The Duke of Exmoor, Maximilian Devereux pretends to be engaged to protect the "disreputable debutante," Lady Charlotte Hasting, his best friend's sister. Charlie has had an infatuation with Max since she was 16, but he never looked at her in a romantic manner. The faux engagement leads to spectacular alone moments when anything could happen. Amy Rose Bennett made me feel every enotional up and down. She has q superb way with words that makes the reader feel like a part of the story. Wonderful read!
