An absolute all timer, completely great with lots of great moments. This just shows how sunny doesn't get old at all, filled completely with funny moments and a great plot with a pretty creative aside plot, plus a great and never seen performance by Kaitlin Olson (as Dee Obviously) showing a face of the beloved character we've never ever seen, danny de vito's performance still hits the same after almost 20 years of him performing in sunny, even though the man is in his 80s he never fails to deliver some laughs. Obviously rob mac, charlie day and glenn howerton are great as always, Final rating: an absolute 10. LOVE IT !!
I'm not sure but I didn't really vibe with the episode and am kinda surprised with the ratings here, it seems that people really loved this episode.
But I can see why they like it. This episode feels more like a classic Sunny episode, especially compared to the last episode.
There is a classic Sunny setup and payoff here that, for some reason, I did not see coming, even though it should be pretty obvious if you pay attention.
I thought maybe behind the scenes Danny DeVito didn't feel like lying down, and that's why "he: looked like that, but the twist was so much better, and I did not expect it.
I say kinda meh because honestly, the whole plot with the gala thing wasn't really funny or memorable, and it kinda wasted a guest actor. I thought the plot didn't really lead to much of anything and wasn't really funny.
The B plot with Dee was more interesting and emotional, but that one was also mostly Dee sitting on a couch eating popcorn and then going and sitting on a bed, and that was the whole thing.
So overall, for me personally, unlike seemingly everybody else who thought this was a 9 or 10, this episode wasn't really that funny as a whole, but the ending is really great and saves it for me.
The season so far hasn't been that memorable, apart from this ending, but I hope the next episodes are gonna be better like season 16, which had a couple of banger episodes.

Imani Hakim from Everybody Hates Chris grew up and directed this amazing episode???? WOW!
Talk about pay-off. It started kinda slowly, but man did it get me at the end. One of the best endings ever. I'm dying here not to give it any spoilers. But it was just a total back to form.
The progression of feelings was really well done. I couldn't imagine that character could believably show that side and then have it go into a crazy direction as good old It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
I still feel it's kinda silent. The core sountrack used to play a bigger role in the show. Now it's kinda forgotten, which sometimes makes episodes feel a little silent at the end of some scenes, but it has improved from some seasons ago. That's the only point I think could improve.
OHHHHH Mac is Back!!! Mac is not mopey and dead as in the last few seasons. He seems to be back to being outrageous and trying to be a badass.
Let's GO!!!!!

Kaitlin Olson gives the performance of a lifetime. I have watched High Potential, The Mick, Champions, and Always Sunny each at least 3 times and can definitively say that none come close to Olson in this episode. She's a character you can laugh at, laugh with, emote with, and cry with throughout Frank is in a Coma. The boys' subplot is obviously hilarious and so comedic but Olson is a completely and utter revelation and should absolutely be in consideration for an Emmy.
This episode definitely manages to keep up the vibe and character of previous Sunny seasons with unreal performances all around.

After 18 seasons, it's amazing that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia can still deliver something this creative, hilarious, and downright memorable. "Frank Is in a Coma" is a standout episode that reminded me why I fell in love with this show in the first place. It's wild, unpredictable, and packed with the kind of chaotic brilliance that defined the early seasons.
The concept is out there in the best way, and the cast clearly has a blast with it. Every character leans into their strengths, giving us over-the-top performances that somehow still feel totally in sync with the Sunny universe. The energy is high from the start and never lets up. The writing is sharp, the visuals are surprisingly bold, and the humor hits that sweet spot between smart and unhinged.
What makes this episode really shine is how committed it is to its premise. No half-measures, no filler-just full-throttle Sunny madness from beginning to end. And yet, underneath all the absurdity, there's a strange sense of cohesion and purpose. It feels like the writers knew they were creating something special, and the result is easily one of the strongest entries in recent memory.
This one shot straight into my personal top ten. It has that rare mix of nostalgia and freshness that longtime fans will appreciate, while still being accessible to those who haven't kept up with every season. If you've drifted from the show, this might be the episode to pull you back in.
Bottom line: "Frank Is in a Coma" proves that even after all these years, the gang can still surprise us-and more importantly, still make us laugh. Hard.
