As a previous reviewer said about Japanese culture, This show must have been written by and through an American lens since the French dialogue sounds like it was translated from English to French word for word.

It's very intriguing story that shouldn't have been infantilized by the plot or script.

I only gave this a 6 for the scenery and visuals.

I'd hope this will be a lesson to all script writers to have dialogue and training in the culture they want to show instead of the absolute childish translation or mistranslation of cultures.

I believe the original was a Manga based on two male characters competing for the inheritance, maybe that is why this series plot has foundational issues.

Why didn't they bring back the original cast? The main characters of Hocus Pocus 1 were not the Sanderson Sisters. It's Max and Danni Dennison.

The entire first movie is all about loving and protecting your sibling. The witches were just the vehicle to display that. The stakes in the first film were so high and they were properly contrasted with the intro where Binx's sister Emily is taken by the witches. This sets the stage for how much Max could lose with his little sister Danni who in the beginning he can't stand to be around and learns that she is more precious than life itself.

This new movie has none of this. This is just nostalgia baiting at best and at worst, poor and lazy writing. There are no stakes.
