In 2010, Filmmaker Klaudia Kovacs, was the first person in the United States to organize a fundraiser for the victims of the Red Sludge Toxic Spill in Hungary. According to the Washington Times, "this disaster was nearly as great as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill." By screening her film, Torn from the Flag, she raised half a million forints (Hungarian currency) in one evening.
