Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaAccording to cast and crew, working with Mike Myers on this film was a "horrible, nightmarish experience." Actors would wait for hours for Myers to come out of makeup, he only spoke to his handlers and director Bo Welch during down time on set, he had his handlers dress his trailer, and his area was all covered with tenting because he didn't want anybody seeing him. He also had a male assistant who sole job was to feed him chocolates from a Tupperware container, and the film ended up having long and pointless additional takes of scenes because he overruled Welch on whether they were good enough or not.
- GoofsWhen the lock is removed the dog's collar, Conrad is shown putting it into his left pocket. When locking the red box up again, the lock is being taken out of his right pocket.
- Quotes
Sally Walden: [jumping on the couch] Like being in the circus!
Cat in the Hat: Yeah, but without those tortured animals or drunken clowns that have hepatitis.
- Crazy creditsThe Universal Pictures, DreamWorks and Imagine Entertainment logos are animated in Dr. Seuss's artwork. Furthermore, the Universal world morphs into the star ball, the Cat is fishing in the moon of the DreamWorks logo, and the Fish can be seen darting into the water in the Imagine logo.
- Alternate versionsIn the TV version, there are some scenes that represent alternate takes of scenes present in the theatrical/video version. This includes but is not limited to the couch scene, a portion of the Kupkake-inator scene and several omitted pop culture references.
Featured review
This is an okay movie. And the visuals are nice. The virtual world is really polished. And the colorful costumes do make a break from the usual movie. The jokes are okay, but nothing special. And the children seem to have fun. But, boy, I had no idea Dr. Seus was a fundamentalist Christian poster boy. That would explain the poor box office results compared with worse movies.
