I thought this series was a drama until I watched the commercials again. Rashida Jones plays a Los Angeles police detective. At first, I took her seriously. This series is spoofing and parody of crime dramas. That's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. I'm tired of crime dramas that become redundant. Angie TriBeCa is an entertaining show with Jere Burns as her boss. There are familiar faces too like Kerry Kinney, James Franco, and others as well. Dean Cole is funny as her partner. They solve murders, ferret smuggling, and other crimes. It's a show that gives plenty of laughs and mocks the crime dramas. Nancy Walls and her husband Steve Carrell are executive producers too.

This show is so funny that I have, lit'rally, lost my breath from laughing so hard. This show is a farce of the highest level. It should not be taken seriously by anyone at any time. The great thing about it is that the only ones that do take it seriously are the characters in the show that don't know they're in a farce. They think they're in an episode of Law & Order:Criminal Minds New York...Blue. And any topic is fair game. From the autopsy procedure with M.E. Dr. Scholls to the extreme stereotypes in every cop partner relationship with Tribeca and her partner, Jay Geils, to the secondary cop whose partner is a German Shepherd that barks like a dog but is understood like a regular human. Add to that every double entendre in the book and insanely bizarre and outrageous undercover scenes. Oh, and since this is a commercial free binge-a-thon, the blatant product placement is a riot in and unto itself. I love it, and this is just 5 episodes in!!

The first huge mistake was taking this show out of the police station and making it a mobile unit, with several new and poor characters.

Their next mistake was letting Geils go. The show wasn't the same without him.

Their final mistake was replacing the writers with new ones in season 4 (I am assuming, from its lack of humor and painfully awkward scenes sometimes).

Watch seasons 1-3 and skip 4.

I can't believe i'm only finding out about this show after there are already 3 seasons. It's literally in the Michael Scott sense of humor circle, it's so ridiculously funny, very similar to the works of David Wain, like Wet Hot American Summer, obviously wouldn't expect less from Steve Carell. I laugh my ass of in every episode. The scream in the first credits is just everything. And one of the best things about this show is the guest stars. Bill Murray is in episode 7. This show definitely deserves to be seen more, it is absolutely funny, entertaining and well made. These days good comedies are just really rare, both in cinema and tv. But this one delivers, of course you have to like it's postmodern sense of humor. If you're hesitant about it, watch Wet Hot American Summer 2001 or The Came Together 2014 by David Wain, and see if you liked those give this one a watch to laugh maybe twice as much. because the sense of humor is completely alike, but i like this one better. I became a fan just 4 episodes in and recommend it to people with ridiculous and weird sense of humor. I'm gonna go back to laughing my ass off... P.S: The one point i cut from this was because they stopped doing that first credits scream after season 1. That was like one of the funniest things about this show. I love them so much that i might edit them back in myself just so that i could enjoy it as i want.

This is a TV comedic series in the fashion of movies such as Airplane! and The Naked Gun.

The jokes cover a broad range of humor, from subtle to caustic to plain ridiculous.

Most of them are idioms or metaphors that the characters meant literally (like "-This case stinks. -No it's me I ate garlic."). Lots of spoofing and puns delivered in deadpan face.

Sometimes you have to really pay attention to get the meta-humor like in the 8th episode where around 4:00 the series does some very deliberate continuity goofs to mock single-camera shows where the 2 characters talking change clothes, background action and even the ...actors (by exchange them with lookalikes) from one edit-cut to the next.

If you know Brooklyn-9-9 (which by the way might share the same police precinct/stage) Angie Tribeca is 100 times more quirky and surreal.

The cast is capable but in my opinion Alfred Molina's performance is the one that stands out, in a small but funny role, playing an M.E.

There are some well known guest stars including Bill Murray and James Franco but they seem like haven't got too much (of a script) to work with.

The first 3 episodes seemed like more organized and inspired. Later the writers turned to a rhythm one-joke-every-second that might be overwhelming for most viewers.

Overall: Like the movie genre which is the inspiration for this (The Naked Gun franchise) you either love it or hate it. Personally I will keep watching.

I like parody. Like pizza, even when parody is mediocre, it is still good enough to consume. I did not have high hopes for this show.

But, I was pleasantly surprised. There was a nice mix of word-play, physical humor and total absurdity. Sure, it seems as if it was derived from David Rasche's SledgeHammer series, down to the superior officer who yells all the time. And, a lot of the gags seems to come directly from the Police Squad series. Making fun of cop shows will give you some overlap.

The character of Angie is funny enough. The running gags of the police dog and the vomiting rookie give you some laugh out loud moments. My recommendation: Watch them in order.

Just started watching the show. Honestly wasn't sure how to take it at first but after the last show I am a big fan.

Reminds me a LOT of the humor found in Airplane movie series, but cleaner. I was just watching the Commissioner Bigfish episode and stopped the recording for a minute since I was laughing so hard my side was literally hurting. Rashida Jones is my favorite of the cast. I know it probably isn't for everyone - my wife doesn't care for it, but I love the sometimes fast joke-after-joke fast pace of the dialogue.

However I know that it will get canceled since EVERY time I like a show a lot from the beginning that seems to be what always happens!

If you didn't grow up in the 90s with PoliceSquad and Naked Gun this might be new and innovative. It's so close

to both that I suspect a tribute more than a knock off. The deadpan humour still works. Maybe not material to fill 10 seasons; it definitely is a good laugh.

Jones will always be hilarious. The drawback of these kind of shows is that the style becomes a one trick pony of situational humour and word games. Once you figured it out it becomes predictable. Until then it is absolutely still worth it as a 80ies tribute.

Having had my share of Flying high, naked gun and police Squad it's a little too obvious.

Remember those movies like "Top Secret" and "Airplane", where you actually had to pause sometimes to catch all the jokes that were thrown at you from the screen? Well, "Angie Tribeca" is a proud follower of this tradition.

This show is a little like the American version of "A touch of cloth", which aired in 2012 in Britain and made fun of British police procedural series. "Angie Tribeca" here, correspondingly, is an absurd parody of the stereotypical American detective shows, and is probably a bit lighter in the mood than "A touch of cloth".

Rashida Jones plays a detective who represents every possible cliché: she's a tough cookie, a lone-wolf, who hates team-work yet somehow develops feelings for her newly assigned manly hot-headed partner, she talks exclusively with phrases out of typical cop shows, and strangers compliment her on her appearance saying it's a pity she wastes it working as a detective. Together Tribeca and her partner keep their city safe, dealing with very silly cases in a lot of very silly ways.

The cast don't shine with charisma, but they are reasonably pleasant to look at, especially Rashida Jones, whose features are not just beautiful in the usual sense, but also lively and interesting, which is a very good thing for a comedy. And of course there's the dazzling smile some of you might remember from "Parks and Recreation". As for the others, they perfectly fulfil their main task, - which is to parody the stereotypical characters from cop shows.

If you've seen at least one show like "Bones" or "Castle" or "CSI" or "Law and Order" or - you name it! - give "Angie Tribeca" a try.

P.S. A piece of advice: if you watch it, don't be lazy. This isn't one of those shows you can watch while cleaning the house, throwing a glance at the TV now and then. Catch every frame, look at every street sign, because jokes are hiding everywhere.

Angie Tribeca (Rashida Jones) is a member of the Really Heinous Crimes Unit in the LAPD. DJ Tanner (Deon Cole), Jay Geils (Hayes MacArthur), and canine David Hoffman are her fellow investigators. Chet Atkins (Jere Burns) is her boss. Monica Scholls (Andree Vermeulen) is the medical examiner.

This is an outlandish network cop show spoof from TBS. It's extremely silly done with a straight face. It's cute. It's fun. It's got a great cast led by Rashida Jones. It's CSI done with Airplane! sensibilities. It's nice.

Truly ghastly.

I really, REALLY, wanted to like this show. And I tried.

But the sight gags and language tricks were pale imitations of Police Squad! gags, with throw-up and other grossities (talking with your mouth full HAHAHAHAHA! Broken compound fracture at the knee HEEHEEHEEHEE!! Throwing up at the crime scene HOHOHOHOHOHO!!!) tossed in to make sure they were just NOT FUNNY.

I am sure there are 8-year olds out there that will find this hilarious.

The only possible truly new funny part is the police dog and they didn't even go there in the first 3 episodes.

If I want to throw up while watching a show I will watch reruns of "Fear Factor." If I want silly comedy, I still have almost all Mel Brooks' movies as well as the Naked Gun movies and reruns of Police Squad! -- all 3 of which are funnier in their driest moments than tribeca is at its funniest.

This is only for people who love spoof humor similar to naked gun! I consider the humor as very literal. For example, he will say, grab a seat. They will then proceed to pick up a chair. Or a bartender will say, here is a drink on the house, and serve a drink on top of a little house... Almost every line and minute of the show is one joke right after another, and they don't all hit, but about 99% of them hit for me! If you like the promos you will like the show. Just realize this is not a serious show, it is a spoof! So you can't take it seriously. An episode goes quickly and makes you laugh! Give it a shot! The second season starts soon, and it will definitely have me as a viewer!

After a satire of tough female role and blatant product placement in just five minutes, it's clear that Angie Tribeca doesn't follow normal procedural rule, or any coherent rule for that matter. However, it does follow in the footstep of Naked Gun, while this is nice since the slapstick comedy hasn't had any addition for a while, there are some lingering crude moments that might just be too unsavory for the comedy to properly work.

This is a psychical comedy in heart, mocking the cop shows in an unapologetic fashion. Honestly, it's rather expected that a parody of CSI and the likes would appear. Angie Tribeca has some good moments, it's nice to see this kind of brash humor once in a while. The nifty parts offer funny approach and commentary of the typical more serious shows, a few surprising guest stars like Lisa Kudrow or Alfred Molina is oddly appreciated.

The main problem is the jokes used are heavy-handed and repetitive. This might be fine if said jokes hit the mark, something like the bits with the dog might be fun to watch, but if it fails then audience is left with one or two long minutes of seeing the same joke ham-fisted over and over again. Most of the humor comes from physical, played in the exaggerated manner to draw any interest or attention, but also inconsistently thrown out there.

Angie Tribeca mainly has a few ideas of humor and shoots them wildly and eccentrically. When it hits, it could be highly entertaining, but if it doesn't audience is left with graceless drunken exhibition of slapstick, but the all-in attitude might just work in their favor.

It isn't that funny at all and it tries way to hard to be goofy. Even Airplane, Naked Gun and Spaceballs had it's serious moments. Not every moment needs to be some kind of slapstick goofy moment with some improbable action or speech. It is trying to out do the classic goofball comedies and failing. Also the goofball moments are too far out there and appear to be written by children. I am serious and don't call me Shirly is classic. Sneezing your eyes out of their socket is trying to hard for laughs with minimal effort. This show has so much potential but fails at it's attempts at humor. The show might as well be filled with fart jokes.

You almost have to watch each episode twice to catch all the jokes. But that's why you watch with a DVR or steam-so you can rewind. I was hooked from the first episode I watched from season 3. Yep, late to the party as usual; but found other seasons on Hulu.

The first few seasons were good and the 4th season wasn't the best. If you like humor like naked gun , then you will enjoy this , if not you will probably hate it. I enjoyed watching it , but like I said the final wrap up season was rushed and not too funny.

I tried this when it first came out because I'll watch anything with Rashida Jones and couldn't get past the second episode. It was almost too satricial, as stupid as it was dumb. But revisited years later during the TV drought, and loved it! There are still some times when it's too much but there are more moments of pure gold. Love it. Love Deon Cole too!

Nancy and Steve Carrell decides to put all that improv training to good use in this "spoof of a hundred shows and thousand tropes" show. There are al types of jokes in here' wordplay, double entendres, physical, ironic, literal, callback, pop references.; something for everyone. Every line, every situation, literally anything is used to put in as many jokes as possible. This hasn't disturbed the narrative, but that is because the show is unlike other 'normal' shows. The narrative, the story, the tone and even the pacing is beside the point. the point is to have a good time, laugh. I certainly did.

Note: I stopped watching during season 4, and I have no intention of watching further.

This show was designed for fans of Airplane!, The Naked Gun, Top Secret, and comedies of that sort. As one of those fans, it was a happy relief to see the style return. Angie and cast continously fire off play-on-words jokes with stoney faces that contrast the utter absurdity of the situation.

Season 1 - Every single line is a joke, is setting up for a joke, or has a joke going on in the background. The rapid barrage of witty hilarity will force you to pause frequently or stifle your laughter so your laughs don't drown out the next joke. Brilliantly written to keep you in stitches. 9/10

Season 2 - While it's clear the writers spent all their best jokes in the first season, season 2 is still good for several laughs per episode (the astronaut had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe). I recommend you stop watching after this season. 7/10

Season 3 - Clearly low on jokes, the entire show shifts away from the witty/senseless humor of the previous seasons. Instead, it focuses on parodying the detective genre, making this feel almost like an entirely different show than the previous seasons... and this show isn't nearly as funny. 4/10

Season 4 - Now officially out of jokes, they desperately turn to parodying several TV series popular at the time that this season was airing. 3/10

OK I get some people are probably thinking omg not a Brooklyn Nine nine when they first watch this show well let me put your hearts at ease here this is one of the funniest and most original cop comedies in awhile I mean I laugh out loud at least once during every episode Angie herself is likable which helps move the show along even faster if your looking for good action and great laughs and like cop comedies this isn't a show to be missed try it your gonna love it

When I saw the cast and creators I was very interested in checking Angie Tribeca out. I recorded the marathon so I could watch at my leisure and began by watching the first three episodes. Everyone was fine in their roles, I was just surprised to see so many variations on jokes that had been done already without any attempt to put a unique spin on them. I suppose that for those who aren't familiar with the Zucker, Abrams and Zucker or Mel Brooks might find the humor original, but for those of us who have been devotees to the style of humor presented in Angie Tribeca, it sort of seems like more of a "sampling" of those bits than an homage. Overall, I feel like I liked this show better when it was called "Police Squad"

You must have this type of sense of humor to enjoy this show. Comparing it to police squad or the like is fruitless. Zucker and Abrahams were literal spoofers. This show continually has laughs and giggles, but, you have to pay attention and be in the mood for it. Giving it anything less than a 6 makes me feel like you don't really know how to honestly critique anything. Obviously, the show gets overwhelming support from viewers, Hollywood, and their peers. Perhaps those rating it poorly should watch it more.

Truly, the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that I really like so many people involved (Rashida Jones, Steve Carrell, Lisa Kudrow, etc.), but it's just terrible. Maybe if you really like farce comedy (a la "Airplane" the movie), you'd like it. But I watched 2 episodes just to give it a fair chance, and you'd have to pay me to watch more. I'm a fan of unusual humor, but I guess there are many shades of "unusual". Good (in my opinion): The Office, Web Therapy, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Arrested Development, W1A, Twenty Twelve, Anchorman, etc. So I'm not sure really how to distinguish between what "unusual" humor someone would like & what they wouldn't. It just comes down to hitting that sweet spot for each person. Maybe you'd like it if you're a fan of physical comedy, slapstick or farce comedy. Or maybe, it's just bad. As it is, it makes me want to cry for all the time, energy & money they put into it. Hopefully it finds an audience.
