About us
Homeboy Industries mission is to hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated adults and youth, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. For 30 years, Homeboy Industries has created a therapeutic community that provides the critical support needed for gang members and previously incarcerated individuals to change their lives. This non profit organization has made a singular impact on the Los Angeles community, not only by providing a means for thousands of individuals to support their families, but also by cultivating healing that helps ensure the cycle of violence is broken. More than 300 people each year are employed through job training positions in our downtown Los Angeles headquarters. They learn on-the-job skills in what is often their first “real” job. They are encouraged to use their workday to work on themselves through a variety of free programs and services like mental health therapy, tattoo removal, substance abuse counseling, parenting and financial literacy classes, GED tutoring, solar panel installation training, case management and legal services. Additionally, thousands of L.A. community clients, have access to a segment of our services including employment counseling and tattoo removal. These are all offered free of charge thanks, in large part, to the donations we receive. In addition to being a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, Homeboy Industries operates nearly a dozen social enterprises including: Homegirl Café, Homeboy Bakery, HomeboyFoods.com, Homeboy Diner at L.A. City Hall, Homeboy Gluten-Free Bakery, Homegirl Catering, Homeboy Silkscreen and Embroidery, Homeboy Merchandise and Homeboy Electronics Recycling. We also license the brand for distribution via Retail Grocery and an LAX quick service restaurant.

Homeboy Industries reposted this Sometimes you think being strong means not showing your feelings. But real strength is having a safe space to cry and show the parts you used to hide, and realizing how much lighter life feels when you stop pretending to be okay. At Homeboy, you can feel that energy when a whole room claps for a soul that once thought… they’d never heal this far. In Episode 6, Hector Verdugo and Dre Comers open up about what true healing feels like and how growth can begin at any stage of life. Through this conversation, you’ll feel that you can still begin and rebuild without carrying the weight of “I should’ve done this earlier.” Episode 6 has just dropped across all top platforms… Give it a listen, follow, and share. #TheHomeboyWay #HomeboyIndustries #HomeboyJoy #TheHomeboyWayPodcast Homeboy Industries

Homies 🤎 the Los Angeles Public Library! Lots of new library card owners after our Academic Department visited the Chinatown LAPL. There’s been a decline in US literacy rates, but not at Homeboy Industries!! 💪 "For me, literacy means freedom. For the individual and for society." - LeVar Burton #educationispower -

Homeboy Industries reposted this ✨ Radical Kinship ✨ A phrase I’ll be carrying with me for a long time. Today, through a UCLA Alumni and Diversity Programs & Initiatives event, I had the privilege of visiting Homeboy Industries — the world’s largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program. We toured the facility, met incredible people, and experienced a morning meeting that radiated community, love, and inclusion ❤️ . It wasn’t just inspiring ✨, it was a living example of what hope looks like in action. Founded by Father Greg Boyle, Homeboy Industries provides training, education, mental health resources, tattoo removal, and employment through social enterprises, helping those once systemically excluded build new lives. For many, it’s not a second chance, it’s a first. If you’re not familiar with their work, it’s worth learning about, or better yet, supporting: 👉 Donate to Homeboy Industries: https://lnkd.in/g4VKgxM4 And my favorite quote of the day: “Not all queens wear crowns. Some have tattoos and work at Homeboy Industries.”

Homeboy Industries reposted this The food WAS bomb. There’s a reason Homeboy Industries has garnered so much respect - nationally and globally - over the years. A reason there’s a Presidential Medal of Freedom displayed in their lobby (the highest civilian award in the United States awarded to Father Gregory Boyle). A reason that lobby is constantly filled with rival gang members - seeking healing and restoration and finding kinship with one another. It was an honor to see those reasons with my own eyes yesterday. To eat a “bomb” chile relleno grilled cheese (seriously, it was incredible) at Homegirl Cafe and Catering. To sit with Co-CEO Steve Delgado and Shirley Torres and hear their vision for expanding their solution far beyond the incredible outcomes they’re already achieving. To be served by a Homegirl named Erin, whose customer service was as warm as you’d find at any great restaurant in LA. To see hundreds of people the world has written off living as though they actually believe “you are exactly what God had in mind when he made you” (Fr Boyle) is true of them. But the real highlight (all due respect, Steve and Shirley 😊)? Spending an hour with a Homie named Anthony. Hearing his story of coming from the lowest of lows (you can’t even imagine) to living today filled with dignity, serious career prospects, a sense of belonging, and a smile that he couldn’t seem to wipe from his face. If you haven’t been to Homeboy in DTLA or learned about their incredible work, let’s just say it would be time well spent.

Homeboy Industries reposted this “There could be a million things happening… but right now, the most important thing is the person in front of you.” In Episode 3 of The Homeboy Way, Michael Tubbs shares how a simple conversation with Father Greg reshaped the way he leads and lives. It’s a reminder that leadership goes beyond just titles or strategy. Real leadership is about the presence in you. The kind that listens, the kind that sees, the kind that changes people without even trying to. Episode 3: Michael Tubbs on Leadership, Poverty & Government Impact is out now on all major podcast platforms. Homeboy Industries reposted this We talk a lot about sustainable materials and production but fashion can also be a vehicle for sustainable futures for people. Homeboy Industries in LA was a trip highlight in COMMUNITY! They’re the world’s largest gang rehabilitation and re entry program, supporting over 10,000 people each year through job training and education across 14 social enterprises. From an Art Academy to cafes and bakeries, screen printing and streetwear with Homeboy Threads… every arm of their organisation exists to create purpose and opportunity. What stood out most was the wrap around support of therapy, education, mental health care, resume classes, and even free tattoo removal! All built to help people succeed long term. Speaking with Rual felt like chatting with one of the crew back home, because at HoMie Clothing we take a very similar approach of using streetwear as the tool to surround young people with the structure and support to build lasting confidence and self esteem. Huge thanks to Rual and Fabian for bringing me in 🙌 And of course to the Winston Churchill Trust (Australia) for giving me this incredible opportunity. 💞 More insights via 🎥 laterz -
