Since releasing the Whimsical MCP and ChatGPT app, one use case keeps coming up: photograph your whiteboard or sketchbook and bring it into Whimsical. Ideas, flowcharts, wireframes - anything hand-drawn becomes something you can edit, share, and actually build on. Worth a try if your whiteboard, notebook (or brain) is full. 👌

Whimsical is the whiteboard for thinking and planning.
About us
Whimsical is the whiteboard for thinking and planning. It’s built for teams to move from chaos to clarity and turn ideas into action. Start from scratch or describe what you need and let AI build it. From sticky notes, sketches, and mind maps to process diagrams, flowcharts, wireframes, and presentations, Whimsical makes it seamless to create stunning visuals without the friction. It’s faster than heavy design tools built for high-fidelity prototyping and simpler than complex diagramming software tailored for formal documentation, so you go from 0 to 1 in record time. Whether you’re collaborating with your team, external stakeholders or clients, Whimsical lets you communicate high-level ideas without worrying about the pixels. Turn abstract concepts and messy thoughts into “aha moments” of shared understanding, and keep everybody aligned and moving in the same direction.

You can now copy Whimsical objects as SVG. Right-click, copy as SVG, paste anywhere. Single shape, multi-select, whole board. What you get is the diagram itself, as structured vector output. Each shape is an addressable element. Each connector is its own path. Text stays text. This means you can: - Paste straight into Figma or Illustrator and keep editing - Drop into a README or design doc and have it stay sharp at any zoom - Animate individual elements with CSS, or take the whole thing into Lottie, Rive or After Effects - Hand it to an LLM as parseable input (Try prompting Claude to animate your flowchart 😉 )

Create diagrams, wireframes, and mind maps in ChatGPT using Whimsical. Have an idea in your head? Think it in ChatGPT. See it come to life in Whimsical. No blank canvas, no dragging shapes around, no wondering where to start. A few prompts you can try: • Map out an event-driven architecture from this repo • Turn this onboarding flow into a mobile wireframe • Change every rectangle on this board to purple • Convert this hand-drawn sketch into a clean diagram Get it here: https://lnkd.in/dNHdsv2Q

We've been a bit quieter than usual — that's because the whole Whimsical team came together for our company summit last week. A few days of real-life whiteboarding, team dinners, recharging, and plotting what's next. We don’t get to do this often, which makes it all the more magical. Now, back from yachting to shipping. We're about to ✨ connect with your workflows in some new and exciting ways soon. Stay tuned!
