Airbnb.org’s mission is to unlock the power of sharing space, resources, and support in times of crisis. Together, Airbnb.org & Airbnb have helped connect over 300,000 people with temporary stays during environmental and humanitarian crises. This has included refugees and asylum seekers fleeing Ukraine and Afghanistan, people displaced by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, people impacted by the fires on Maui, and so many others. Six things to know about Airbnb.org: ✅ The work started under Airbnb's Open Homes program in 2012; it transitioned to Airbnb.org, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in December 2020 ✅ Airbnb.org guests never pay for their Airbnb.org stays. ✅ We work with nonprofits and government agencies who refer guests to Airbnb.org and may provide many other forms of support during a stay. ✅ More than 92,000 Hosts in 189 countries and regions have signed up to be Airbnb.org Hosts. Look for the “Airbnb.org Supporter” badge on their profiles. ✅ Recurring donations from Airbnb Hosts provide a significant portion of our funding. ✅ Airbnb, Inc. covers Airbnb.org’s operational costs, so 100% of donations go toward supporting our nonprofit partners and covering the cost of temporary stays.

Non-profit Organizations
Airbnb.org facilitates temporary stays for people impacted by humanitarian and environmental crises around the world.
About us
Our mission is to unlock the power of sharing space, resources, and support in times of crisis. The inspiration for Airbnb.org began in 2012 with a single Airbnb Host named Shell who opened up her home to people impacted by Hurricane Sandy and started a movement to provide free, temporary stays with Airbnb Hosts. That movement became Airbnb.org. Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people impacted by large-scale crises to free, temporary stays with the support of Hosts and organizations around the world. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. and leverages Airbnb, Inc.’s technology, services, and other resources at no charge to carry out Airbnb.org’s charitable purpose. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org-supported stays on its platform.

Airbnb.org has provided access to free, temporary housing to nearly 6,000 people who either lost their homes or were forced to evacuate in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Airbnb hosts have made this possible by opening up their homes, many for free or at a discount, allowing Airbnb.org to continue to provide housing to those who need it most. You can learn more about our response below. Right now, Airbnb will match all one-time donations to Airbnb.org for Hurricanes Helene and Milton at 100% until November 1st.

Hurricane Helene caused devastation throughout the Southeastern US. To support relief efforts, Airbnb.org is partnering with local organizations to provide free, emergency housing to survivors, volunteers, and first responders. Learn more about how to get help and get involved below. None of this would be possible without the support of generous hosts who have opened their homes to people for free or at discount to people impacted by the storm. “It has been incredibly challenging to find safe accommodations for people displaced by the storm. I’m inspired by my fellow Airbnb hosts who immediately stepped up to support relief efforts and welcome families into their homes through Airbnb.org, which waives all fees associated with Airbnb bookings. Airbnb.org is a powerful way for hosts like myself to better serve our communities when disasters like Hurricane Helene strike.” - Danielle, Airbnb host in Tampa, Florida

🥹 Take us back! Exactly one month ago, we were on the banks of the river Seine in Paris with the Refugee Olympic Team enjoying an evening at La Maison Airbnb on Jardins de Pont Neuf, in an event co-organised by Airbnb, Airbnb.org and the Olympic Refuge Foundation. Airbnb.org created personalized drawings of each of the 37 athletes of the Refugee Olympic Team, which were used to decorate the beautiful boat setting. ⛴️🎨 Speaking at the event, Jojo Ferris, Head of ORF said: “Much like Airbnb, the Refugee Olympic Team was born out of an idea – a different way of seeing the world. As Airbnb and the Olympic Refuge Foundation we are aligned on our values and commitment to creativity and through this shared approach of collaboration we will continue to work together to find a sense of belonging for young people affected by displacement." Airbnb and Airbnb.org support the work of the ORF having donated financially and in kind to the Foundation and allowing all 74 Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holders to benefit from the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant. Airbnb has also supported previous members of the Refugee Olympic Team with temporary housing to allow them to pursue their education and training. 🏡✈️🎓 Thank you to Airbnb and Airbnb.org for the ongoing support and making Paris extra special for the athletes through these beautiful memories. ❤ 🎨 Designs by the talented Nathan Bell

Earlier this year, massive floods displaced 600,000 people and destroyed 200,000 homes in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Two-time Paralympic fencer Vanderson Chaves was among those forced to evacuate. He lost everything in his home, including his fencing equipment, medals, and passport, and thought he might miss his chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Airbnb.org provided Vanderson free, temporary housing in a wheelchair-accessible home near his training center, which allowed him to keep preparing for the Games. During his Airbnb.org stay, Vanderson learned that he made Brazil’s Paralympic team. The Paralympics start today and you can watch Vanderson compete starting September 3 at 13:00 CET 🥇 Learn more about how Airbnb.org has supported hundreds of thousands of people like Vanderson with free, temporary housing: https://lnkd.in/gK8dgf8e

Just a few days are left to join the Refugee Pride: 365 movement, just like our incredible partners at Airbnb.org! 💚 Our grant partners enable ORAM to protect, empower, and advocate for LGBTIQ refugees worldwide. ORAM first teamed up with Airbnb.org in 2022, shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, to provide safe and secure housing for LGBTIQ Ukrainian refugees. Last year alone, ORAM provided over 4,000 nights of safe housing to over 200 LGBTIQ refugees from Ukraine, thanks to Airbnb.org's unwavering support. The success of this short-term housing program was the catalyst for launching an emergency housing initiative for LGBTIQ refugees in Nairobi, Kenya. Thank you to Airbnb.org for your year-round commitment to protecting LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers. You, too, can join Airbnb.org to make a lasting difference by joining the Refugee Pride: 365 movement: https://buff.ly/3xrQAqK
