- The context of data protection legislation.
- Data protection principles and relevant terminology.
- Lawful bases for processing personal data.
- Governance and accountability frameworks for data protection in organizations.
- The relationship between Controllers and Processors, including the role of third parties.
- Transferring personal data to third countries or international organizations.
- Rights of data subjects.
- The functions of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and Independent Supervisory Authorities (ISAs).
- Breaches, enforcement mechanisms, and liability.
- Processing personal data in relation to children.
- Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations (PECR) 2003.

The course is delivered by an expert NobleProg trainer certified by BCS.
The fee includes instruction on the full syllabus by a BCS-approved trainer and the BCS Practitioner Data Protection exam. The exam can be taken remotely at your convenience and is centrally invigilated by BCS. Upon passing the multiple-choice exam (requiring a minimum score of 65%), participants will be awarded the accredited BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection.
Requirements
Holding the BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection is recommended but not strictly required.
We strongly advise candidates to undertake an accredited training course and ensure they are thoroughly familiar with the GDPR, the syllabus, and any recommended reading materials.
