Dear Hiring Committee,

Lauren Stewart was a teacher candidate at Edison Elementary School for 12 months spending time
in 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 5th grade. During this time, I have served as her site professor
providing extensive feedback and coaching as part of the University of Colorado Denver’s year-long
model of teacher preparation.

Lauren is a good teacher who has a strong passion to work with children. She is thoughtful about her
teaching methods and often reflects on her pedagogy. Lauren has a growth mindset for both herself
and her students and she seeks to create a classroom environment where everyone is able to learn
effectively. Most importantly, Lauren is an advocate for children at all levels of learning. She is
committed to providing equitable learning opportunities for each child she works with.

Like many beginning teachers, Lauren is continuing to develop her skills in classroom management
and lesson planning. The best type of environment where Lauren will be most successful would be
one where she is able to work with small groups to facilitate each child’s growth and development.

At your school, I have confidence that Lauren will seek opportunities to grow as a teacher, and I
believe that she will be a reflective partner, teammate, and colleague.

Sincerely,

Kobi K. Nelson
