Lesson Plan: Clothes Hanger and Cups

The lesson plan was for a math lesson in KG2 about heavy and light objects. The goals were for 75% of students to sort heavy and light objects and share their experiences through role play. Activities included sorting pictures into heavy and light sections, creating balances scales to compare objects, and drawing or building scales. Students worked in centers and presented their work at the end. The teacher reflected on keeping students engaged throughout and assessing their understanding of heavy and light concepts.

REFLECTION:
On March 14, I presented a math lesson for 27 KG2 students in the class room at Alnaseem
School. The main focus was to help students compare and describe the heavy and light.

In the lesson starter, the students sang the morning song and counting song because the
students always start their morning with those song. The students were engaged and were
excited to take part because they were familiar with the song and confident that they could
sing. After that I ask the students about what they have yesterday and what we will take about
today.
Next, I wanted to check what students know about the heavy and light. I but big board and I
write one section for heavy and one for light also I but different picture after that I ask
student to sort that picture on correct place. I repeated this many time. I found out that all the
students could sort the heavy and light. The students were confident to give answers and
shouted out the answer. I the future, I will change how they give the answers. I would like
students to write the answers on a small whiteboard and then hold the whiteboard up. This
will help me know who knows the answers and who does not, instead of always hearing from
the students who know.

After that, I sent the students to the centers by calling their names. This was organized. For
this lesson, I made 4 centers. The first center was about create a balance scale from paper
and they will stick the picture on heavy or light. The second activity was about compare and
describe 2 subject and the student will have a balance scale and different subject and they
will put and sort what the heavy and what the light also they will draw the subject on the
heavy or light section. The third activity also about compare and describe 2, each student will
have a different picture and they sort to heavy and light and put on the heavy or light
section. In the last activity I connect Art with math, each student will have a clothes
hanger, cups and cord and they will create a small scale.

For Closing activity Students will share what they have done in the centre and they will
explain what they do.

In the next lesson I will ask students more question to see if they understand.
